What does NIN mean?

The word NIN refers to the national identification number, which consists of eleven (11) unrecognizable numbers that were selected after being fully registered in the National Identity Database (NIDB) and assigned to individuals.

If a NIN is created and issued, another person cannot use it. so this makes it exclusive.

Who qualifies for the NIMC pre-registration form?

Both citizens and legal immigrants from Nigeria from the age of zero (birth) have to register for their NIN. In the event of a person’s death, the NIN is revoked after the death certificate has been submitted to the Commission and the person’s death has been confirmed.

The NIN remains in the database to link all of a person’s data and is also used to define or verify their identification.
