DIY recycled paper bunting

Guys, I’m nothing more than a last minute productivity machine. I love nothing more than a deadline to get myself through the to-do list. The preparation for Christmas is no different. It was non-stop and I’m still going! Do not get me wrong. As soon as I wake up on the 26th, I’ll give myself a much needed break. But I enjoy the hustle and bustle of the festive season. I have accepted the fact that I will never be the person who is ready and waiting in November. I actually like last minute packaging. I still have everything to do by myself and will sit in front of a festive film with mulled wine, a huge pile of handicraft material and wrap myself into the night. You don’t have to be particularly well organized to enjoy Christmas. In recent years, I have consciously tried to turn my thoughts from something that could be stressful into a fun experience. Then when the worst happens, I’m mentally in a better position to laugh at it and just have fun!

DIY recycled paper bunting

For this very reason, I am going to share with you these last minute bunting made from recycled paper. I am thinking of making a miniature version of it for my packaging. It is quick and easy and either recyclable or reusable. I also made mine from recycled card, so it’s a low-waste option for cute gift packaging.

  1. Measure, draw and cut a triangle the size you need for your bunting. You can easily create a template by folding a piece of paper in half and cutting a half triangle. When you open the paper, you get a nice symmetrical triangle.
  2. Cut card strips the same width as the triangle from top to bottom.
  3. Place the template on the card so that the shorter edge matches the straight edge of the card and cut out the triangle. Now you can simply flip the template over and make a single cut for each triangle.
  4. When you have enough triangle, make a hole in the top two corners and thread it on a piece of string.

As simple as that! I will be back with some very exciting news for 2020 before the new year, but by then all Merry Christmas!
