PTDF scholarship for M.Sc & PhD Overseas 2020/2021 : Nigerian Education

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a federal government agency tasked with developing local human resources and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, invites applications from appropriately qualified applicants for MSc and PhD scholarships Overseas at facilities under its strategic partnership initiative. Successful candidates receive scholarships to study in France / Germany / China / Malaysia Start of the academic session 2020/2021.

The scheme

Under this program, applicants will be asked to apply for PTDF through partner institutions in one of the countries for specific programs (for a full list of sponsored courses, visit the scholarship portal scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng). The price includes the provision of airline tickets, the payment of health insurance, the payment of tuition and bank charges (if applicable) as well as the provision of allowances to cover accommodation and living expenses. The programs will also include language courses to help scientists navigate their new environment (where applicable).

Selection procedures, criteria and requirements

PTDF scholarships are fiercely contested and only candidates who are outstanding on a broad front are selected. A selection committee is formed to assess applications based on the following criteria.

  • Academic merit is evidenced by the quality of degrees, full academic credentials, other professional qualifications and relevant publications to which applicants must refer
  • Membership in professional associations
  • The viability of the study / research plan (Only for doctoral students).
  • Applicants must submit their application for a scholarship with a justification (maximum 500 words) stating the reason (s) for carrying out the study, the relevance of the proposed study to the oil and gas industry and their likely impact on the study national development (MSc applicants only).

  1. A minimum of upper secondary education (2.1) in first grade or a subclass of II (2.2) with relevant industry experience
  2. Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  3. Must have computer literacy
  4. Owned 5 O / Level Credits including English language.

  1. Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  2. Must have computer literacy
  3. A minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in her first grade and a good second grade certificate;
  4. Submission of a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (no more than 5 pages) containing the following information: theme, introduction, objectives, methodology and method of collecting data (the template of the proposal is available on the Scholarship Portal ( scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng);
  5. Applicants must also attach their master project

Required Documents

Applicants are encouraged to scan copies of the following documents and attach them to their online application forms:

  1. Diploma or declaration of results
  2. Dismissal Certificate of NYSC
  3. WAEC / GCE / SSCE / NECO results as well as the PIN numbers on the application forms so that PTDF can view the O-level results on its website).
  4. Current passport photo
  5. Identification letter from the local government
  6. Master's degree (Only for doctoral students)
  7. Proof of membership in professional associations

NOTE:

  1. Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) before they can apply for the scholarship. Applicants are also expected to upload an NIN Review Report before completing the application. The report is available at www.verifyme.ng (Fees may apply),
  1. Ongoing PhD students can only apply if their universities are affiliated to the PTDF Partnership Universities listed above.
  1. Applicants who have received a PTDF scholarship in the past can only apply for a higher degree for the same qualification category.
  1. Applicants with a higher degree can not apply for the same degree;
  1. Applicants interested in German institutions should choose Abuja as the preferred place for the interview.
  1. Applicants who receive other scholarships do not have to apply.
  1. Applicants who have completed the first round of screening will be asked to submit their transcripts. All applicants are therefore advised to prepare their transcripts for filing in advance of such an application.
