Our great live table Christmas tree and home tour :DIY Home Decor

Since I found my big favorite brass pot at Goodwill a few years ago, I've wanted to see a living table Christmas tree in it. The brass pot is in the corner of our living room on the side table and usually has a salon palm. This year I got my wish and the palm tree spends Christmas in our bedroom so that the brass pot can show a wonderful Fraser fir.

Today's Christmas tour is also part of Marty's Christmas blog. So welcome to everyone who comes from their blog at A walk through life and my friend Cristina Remodelando La Casa, Your tours are always fabulous. If you want some Christmas red, Cristina is the girl for you. I am in love with all the color accents.

Well, let's get started because I'm looking forward to showing you how I decorated my living table Christmas tree and the rest of our stairs.

Live table Christmas tree

A lot has changed in our home since the Christmas tour last year, even if the changes are somewhat subtle. We have new vinyl floors, the lower kitchen cabinets are green, the dining room has new furniture and finally I decided to add new neutral velvet curtains to our living room (click on HERE). All of these changes make me love our little home even more.

For the past few years, I've always had a small artificial tree in the corner of our living room. You can scroll to the end of this post to see all of my previous Christmas tours.

This year I'm so happy to have this great and real beauty. I love sitting on my couch under this tree to watch TV this holiday season.

For your information, if you are wondering how you can keep your living table top tree alive longer, you should check this out Christmas tree recipe, I've heard great things about it.

I also wanted to decorate a tree with some natural and untraditional decorations. When I went to our local AtHome store, I found bags of white paper vase fillers for $ 7 and thought that two bags could be the perfect tree decor. During one of my trips to HomeGoods, I found a number of starfish that I thought would look perfect with the vase fillers.

I also ordered some fairy lights that I wanted to add to a tree with normal Christmas lights. However, when I added them to this tree, I knew I didn't want the normal Christmas lights anymore. I love the thin threads and how I can wrap them around the branches. 100 foot fairy lights was perfect for this size of live tabletop Christmas tree.

For those who are wondering, I dried my orange slices in our dehydrator (HERE) that works perfectly for so many different purposes,

I love the wild and untrimmed shape of this tree. The randomness makes me very happy.

powder room

I added an artificial cedar branch from the past year with dried oranges and fairy lights to our powder room. I used wine bottle string lights (HERE), which are perfect for a flower arrangement because you can hide the artificial cork with the batteries in the vase. They come in a pack of 10 or 12 and are also a perfect unique and affordable gift.

I decorated the whole house with the dried oranges. When I was a teenager, I had decorated all my presents with wrapping paper, bast and dried oranges for a Christmas year. The decoration of this year makes me think back to that time. I've always loved to wrap my presents for my loved ones.

If you missed my DIY for snowflake canvas prints, you should check it out, as I now offer the image download for free in the blog post.

I love the look of it new curtains with the fireplace decor. They're even better in person because they're the softest stuff I've ever touched. I could use it as a soft wrap 😉

The Advent wreath this year is a tray that I bought from Target last Christmas. I had my eye on the whole season but didn't want to spend any money on it and was so glad I ended up getting it for $ 9.

Below I have a look into the living room from the hallway.

If you're new here, check out how I reprinted my great grandmother's original oil painting from my parents, which looks perfect over my little secretary. I even added texture to make it look like a real painting. Click HERE to see the post. I always move the desk against this wall so that there is space for the large Christmas tree in the living room.

As I mentioned above, the kitchen was still white last year and I'm so glad I took the plunge to change it to green. It is so easy, affordable and quick to change and the whole family loves it. More information about the painting process can be found HERE.

dining room

I enjoyed decorating the dining room and kitchen this year in blue and green, and the pipe cleaner trees I found at Ikea were the perfect little centerpiece for the table.

The skirting board that I added earlier this year now gives the room the perfect, elegant detail. Read more about how I added molding HERE.
