The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has published the list of withdrawn certificates from candidates who were believed to have made mistakes during their examinations that took place in December 1992 and 1993.

WAEC announced the test years and certificate numbers of the candidates involved, and found that the nature of their misconduct was an imitation.

The list of affected WAEC candidates was published on Monday in the weekly Bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board [JAMB].

In the JAMB Bulletin, WAEC identified the candidates as "Ukaumunna C. December 1992 Exam with Certificate Number, NGSP 0233613; Chinna H. December 1993 with certificate number, NGSP 0572427; Koffi E.December 1993, number NGSP 0455669; and Oham J. December 1994 with the certificate number NGSP 0177271. "

JAMB noted that in order to avoid such a change of identity during the Tertiary Unified Matriculation Examination, there is a partnership with the National Identity Management Commission to enforce the registration of candidates for the National Identity Number.

The Board said, "In light of the cases listed, JAMB's partnership with NIMC is essential. To ensure seamless registration for UTME 2020, we have set up machines to test the new enrollment system using the NIN on the JAMB and NIMC common platform.

The chancellor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, therefore instructed staff in offices across the country to attend the process registration, which began on Friday, November 29, and ends on Tuesday, December 3. No fewer than 1,800 employees would be involved in registering the study to assess the viability of the new registration system. "
