The YOA Foundation organizes the second annual mathematics competition : Nigerian Education

With the remembrance of the first edition still fresh, Yeye Oge of Akesan Kingdom, Aminat Olawunmi Ige, hosted the second edition of the YOA Foundation's annual math competition on a grand scale.

The event attracted about 200 secondary school students from schools of the 6 LCDAs in the Alimosho region, who fought for a grand prize of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) and other prizes.

After registration and accreditation, the girls participated in a one-hour exam in which 7 girls participated as finalists, 7 as award qualifiers and 2 girls as outstanding JS 1 students in the JSCE standards-based competition.

On Saturday, November 30, 2019, the commercial activities in Akesan experienced a big boost as participants, winners, parents, teachers, special guests and well-wishers found their way to Akesan City Hall, which was filled to the brim.

Everyone was looking forward to seeing the 7 brilliant finalists live with the excitement surrounding the grand prize, who goes home with the Fat Check!

Harriet Abanum, Folasayo Ogundare, Moyin-Oluwa Ajulo, Lawal Ikeoluwa, Mustafar Ifeoluwa, Adegbite Oluwafanuhanmi and Obisesan Oyinkansola answered the mathematical questions in 20 seconds.

After several questions, Oyinkansola Obisesan won the YOAAMC 2019 edition.

She was flanked by her parents, teachers, and siblings when she expressed her happiness.

Oyinkansola went home with 2 certificates, 1 medal, a tablet phone and a scholarship of 100,000 N.

Folasayo Ogundare was 2nd and received 2 certificates, 1 medal and a tablet phone, while Harriet Abanum was 3rd and went home with 2 certificates, 1 medal and 1 giant blender.

The four finalists received as consolation prizes school bags and a certificate.

Seven more outstanding girls; Ameen Semiat, Osoba Feranmi, Ogu Adanma, Adeyemi Alexandra, Oluyeba Ebunoluwa, Saheed Rukayat and Kolawole Toluwanimi received award certificates.

The two JSS1 girls Elizabeth Agbaje and Basheerah Ige were also honored for their outstanding achievements in the Young Shall Grow category, even though they were only one month in secondary school at their competitions.

The event was chaired by a legislator at Lagos Assembly House, Mr. Kehinde Joseph, while Jimoh Ajao, former Special Advisor to the Governor of Housing, was the guest of honor.

Among the special guests were the Head of Sandwich Studies at Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Basirat Oladipupo, who was dr. -Ikotun, Mr. Adeshina Arowosafe, Financial Controller FSDH Asset Management, Mr. Shehu Jamiu, and the Managing Director of Akande Adeleye Enterprises, Mr. Suleiman Adeleye. and many more.

The participants praised the event as a worthy step in promoting the education of girls and children.

The founder of the YOA Foundation, Ms. Aminat Ige, thanked the sponsors, the organizing team of YOAAMC 2019, the schools, the guests and all the well-wishers.

The young mathematician and philanthropist also pointed out that the third edition in 2020 already comes with pleasant surprises.
