The admission exam form for the academic meeting 2019/2020 of the Swiss Federal University of Natural Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) has started.

FUPRE admission form for doctoral students

Applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission to full-time and part-time postgraduate programs at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta, for the academic session 2019/2020 are welcome.

Duration of the FUPRE postgraduate courses.

College of Sciences:

  • PID: At least 2 semesters and a maximum of 4 semesters for full-time students. For part-time students at least 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.
  • M.Sc: At least 3 semesters and at most 5 semesters for full-time students. For part-time students At least 5 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.
  • Ph.D. At least 6 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters for full-time students. For part-time students at least 8 semesters and a maximum of 10 semesters.

HIGHER SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY:

  • PID: At least 4 semesters and at most 6 semesters for full-time students. For part-time students at least 6 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.
  • M.Sc: At least 3 semesters and at most 6 semesters for full-time students. For part-time students at least 4 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters.
  • PhD: At least 6 semesters and maximum 12 semesters for full-time students. For part-time students at least 8 semesters and a maximum of 16 semesters.

Admission Requirements for FUPRE Postgraduates.

All candidates seeking admission to the postgraduate programs of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, must meet the Senate-approved prerequisites for enrolling in undergraduate degree programs at the university's various departments.

a) PROGRAMS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE

I. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: For admission to the postgraduate programs of the College of Science, five credit passes must be submitted in no more than two English language, math and two (2) other relevant science subjects of level O or A, two scientific subjects.

Details for the respective departments are as follows:

  • Department of Chemistry (Chemical and Industrial Chemistry Options): Credit cards in English, mathematics, chemistry, physics and other fields in the fields of biology, agricultural science, computer science, cosmetology or dyeing and bleaching, or two A-level certificates in chemistry and other areas of physics, mathematics or biology (for Chemistry) option) or two degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (for the Industrial Chemistry option).
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science: Credits in English, mathematics, physics and two other subjects in computer science, chemistry, biology / agricultural sciences or data processing / GSM maintenance or two degrees in mathematics and other science subjects.
  • Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology: Credit cards in English, mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics or a passport in physics and a credit card in geography, agricultural science, computer science / health care, fishery / tourism or two A-level certificates in chemistry and biology.
  • Institute of Earth Sciences (Geology and Geophysics): Credit cards in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and other areas in the fields of biology, geography, computer studies, agricultural sciences, data processing / mining or two A-level certificates in the fields of chemistry, mathematics, physics, biology and geography (option geology ) or two degrees in chemistry and physics or mathematics (geophysics option).
  • Department of Physics: Credit cards in English, mathematics, chemistry, physics and other subjects in the fields of biology / agricultural sciences, computer science, data processing, electrical installation and maintenance, radio, television and electrical engineering or two A-level certificates in physics and mathematics.

ii. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PID): Candidates with a Bachelor's degree from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, or any other recognized university must obtain a minimum pass certificate in the relevant science discipline. Holders of the Higher National Diploma (HND) of a recognized institution must have a minimum of upper credit to be eligible for admission.

iii. MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.Sc): Candidates for Masters Degrees must be undergraduate graduates of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, or any other recognized university with a second-grade (Lower Division) degree in the respective discipline. Applicants with a CGPA score of 3.5 on a scale of 5.0 in their PID program from a recognized institution will also be eligible for admission to the Master's degree program in that discipline.

iv. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.): To qualify for the Federal University of Petroleum Resources's Effurun PhD program, a candidate must have an academic master's degree from a recognized university and a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a scale of 5.0. In addition, candidates must demonstrate intellectual capacity, maturity, effective decision-making and problem solving skills.

b) TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

I. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants for admission to programs at the Technical University must have five credits in a maximum of two sessions in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and another relevant subject at level O or level A in physics. Mathematics and Chemistry.

Details for the respective departments are as follows:

  • Department of Chemical Engineering: Credit cards in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and all other subjects in the fields of Agricultural Science, Biology, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Dyeing and Bleaching / Leather Goods Manufacturing or A Levels in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering / Electronics: Credit cards in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and all other subjects in the fields of Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, AutoElectric Work or Abitur in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
  • Department of Marine Engineering: Credit cards in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and all other subjects in the fields of Agricultural Science, Biology, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Automechanical Work, Welding and Finishing, Air Conditioning and Cooling or Abitur in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry
  • Mechanical Engineering Department: Credit cards in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and all other subjects in the fields of Agricultural Science, Biology, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Automechanical Work, Welding and Finishing, Air Conditioning and Cooling or Abitur in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry ,
  • Department of Petroleum Engineering: Credit cards in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and all other subjects in the fields of Agricultural Science, Biology, Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Data Processing, Mining, Sanitation and Pipe Assembly or Abitur in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

ii. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PID): Candidates with a technical background who apply for the PID program at the Technical College must have obtained a third grade (Hons) degree or an upper credit degree. Candidates who have obtained a Lower Credit (HND) at least five (5) years after qualification and have relevant experience may be considered for admission. Candidates with a science background applying for a PID must have obtained a second-grade (Hons) degree (Lower Division).

iii. MASTER OF ENGINEERING (M.Eng.): Candidates for the Master's degree must hold a Bachelor's degree from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, or any other recognized university with at least a Second Division (Lower Division) degree in that subject. Applicants with a CGPA score of 3.5 on a scale of 5.0 in their PID program from a recognized institution are eligible for admission to the Master's degree program in that discipline.

iv. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): In order to qualify for the Federal University of Petroleum Resources's Effurun PhD program, a candidate must have an academic masters degree from a recognized university and a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a scale of 5.0. In addition, candidates must demonstrate intellectual capacity, maturity, effective decision-making and problem solving skills.

Applicants should forward the following relevant documents supporting their application in an envelope (A4 size) stating the attached documents, the form number and the name on the reverse.

  • Photocopy of graduation certificates
  • Photocopy of NYSC Discharge / Exemption Certificate
  • Photocopy of the O-level results

Transcripts and reports

  • Candidates should require their former university / institution to pass on their testimony to the Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, P.M.B 1221, Effurun, Delta State. Applications from candidates whose certificates are not forwarded to the school will not be processed.
  • Candidates should also request their referees to complete the referee's report and submit it online.

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • The processing fee for all programs is N15,000.00 (only fifteen thousand Naira).
  • The progress of the completed application forms can be monitored online and applicants notified as soon as decisions have been taken on the applications.
  • Applicants will be informed by e-mail about the status of their applications.

DEADLINE: Properly completed application forms must be submitted online on or before 31 January 2020.
