To improve the standard of teaching and learning in schools across the state, the government of Lagos has concluded plans to create a favorable academic environment and to recruit more teachers to state public schools.
This was announced on Monday, October 21, 2019, by the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Ing. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, announced during his unplanned visit to some public elementary and secondary schools of the state for on-site assessment.
Dr. Hamzat said that the state government is ready to fight the deterioration of public-sector infrastructure across the state.
He emphasized that the essence of the visit was to enable the state government to understand the state of the infrastructure and to know how well the teachers are teaching the students. He emphasized that education is the top priority of the Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu government.
Our government will do everything it can to improve state public schools and ensure that public schools are as good as any private school.
He added that the state government had planned to tackle some of the challenges identified during the visit. He said that the Commissioner for Education and the Special Adviser to the Governor of Education have already put forward a number of proposals, which have already been taken note of by the State Government.
During the visit, the deputy governor addressed the students and asked them to be determined to seek opportunities to achieve their goals and ambitions, and only if they were seriously confronted with their studies, regardless of the challenges facing them they faced each other in their quest for success.
Some of the schools visited by the deputy governor were the Ade-Oshodi Memorial Baptist School in Sura, the Fazil-Omar Ahmadiyah kindergarten and the elementary school in Sura; Dolphin Junior and Senior High Scools and Sura Handicraft Center all in Lagos Isand.
