Every moment of daily life is an opportunity to arrive at the present moment. Gathas are short verses that we can recite during our daily activities in order to return to the present moment and to stay in mindfulness.
As exercises in meditation and poetry, gathas are an integral part of the tradition of Zen Buddhism. The use of a Gatha requires no special knowledge or religious practice. It also does not stick to a style or structure. It follows only the rule to guide the reader back to their present moment of existence.
Here is my attempt:
"The mirror image of a reflection is your reflection
On the surface mirror of a pool
Be slowly filled with the fountain of life
You thought about it first.
Now jump in the pool! "
