Plateau State Govt promotes 9000 teachers.
The Plateau State Government has approved the promotion of 9,000 teachers in the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
This was announced by chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Matthew Suleiman, in talks with reporters in Jos last Friday.
Suleiman said the promotion was part of the board's motivation strategy to ensure good performance and commitment.
"Today we have approved the promotion of more than 9,000 teachers as a commemorative mark on World Teacher's Day.
"The well-being of the teachers is taken very seriously by the administration led by Governor Simon Lalong. The salaries of the teachers will be paid at the due date.
"There was a time when more than 2,000 teachers were unemployed and we returned them," he said.
He said World Teacher's Day was marked so that they could reflect on their role as guardians of values and role models for children.
The SUBEB chief urged teachers to redouble and re-enforce their efforts in serving the nation. The training organized by SUBEB had improved the quality of teaching among teachers.
World Teachers' Day is an annual event that sheds light on the role of teachers in building a responsible generation to meet their challenges. (NAN)
