Questions and answers by tenants courtesy of Deirdre Slowey (Bloor West Homes): Exit from a lease Part 2.
Q: How do I get out of my lease?
A: If you leave to go home or travel, and you do not intend to return, you should assign your lease and hand over all responsibility to the new tenant. The rental conditions remain the same.
Regardless of whether you sublet or hire, you need the permission of the landlord. Please write and he / she must respond within 7 days. Further information can be found at this link
