The Sharjah Trade and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has announced to attract more Russian visitors. According to figures published by SCTDA for 2018, Russian visitors ranked second on the list of overnight guests in Sharjah with 328,000. The number of guests from Russia, the Commonwealth and the Baltic States also increased last year by 41 percent compared to the previous year. In addition, the market share of Russian visitors in the same period increased to 23 percent.
In the light of this trend, SCTDA and Air Arabia will organize a B2B event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Moscow on September 11, 2019, to demonstrate Sharjah's growing reputation as a premier tourist destination and to be able to form new partnerships with key Russian tourism stakeholders industry. The event reflects SCTDA's ongoing efforts to ensure that the emirate is widely publicized at tourism and travel events in Russia.
This year, SCTDA's campaigns focus on ecotourism products, outdoor activities and brand hotels to anchor Sharjah's status as the ideal family-friendly destination worldwide. All these initiatives are in response to the directives of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, positioning Sharjah as the ideal global destination.
HE. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of SCTDA, said: "Given the influx of Russian tourists visiting the Emirate, we at SCTDA are working hard to maintain this trend. Expanding our presence in Russia through our partnerships with key local tourism and travel providers is of paramount importance to us. "
