It has been said that you have to let go of something if you love it. And, dear friends, it's time for us to let go of Design * Sponge. It is time for us to close this wild and wonderful chapter and make our way into the great unknown. Although we are sad to say goodbye to the friends, colleagues and community we have found here, we know that we are entering this next chapter, filled with the love, support and care that you so graciously tell us have the last 15 years.
Design * Sponge started out as a girl behind a screen, evolving into a beautiful, diverse and ever-expanding network of friends, co-workers, confidants and support systems. They've all taught us how to be better listeners, better associates and better members of our community, and most of all, you've taught us that the special about a community is that People it.
I know that at Design * Sponge I speak for all of us when I say that today we are leaving with nothing but gratitude for what we have all experienced here. They have allowed us to share thousands of stories, homes, personal moments, and lessons that have broadened not only our minds but our hearts and our understanding of the world as well. Your support has given us the courage to dream big, to take risks, and to move harder and farther than we knew.
From day one, you were all so much more than just a blog reader. They become our friends, employees, support systems and our family. We have traveled around the world for the past 15 years and have had the honor and joy of meeting so many of you personally. Thank you for not only reading Design * Sponge online, but also that we met you in real life. They have shared memories and stories about their highest and lowest notes, and we have been able to support each other in a real and meaningful way at these moments.
I know that like every community, we have not always lived up to the expectations that we set ourselves, and we wholeheartedly thank you for giving us the grace and understanding to become better when we had to sit back when we fell. Your dedication, support and honesty have enabled this site to become something different and different More as a collection of beautiful pictures – you have a real one out of it At home, A home with pretty, shiny pieces, but also worn, beloved parts that are familiar and give us the feeling of being welcome.
I'm so thankful to be able to pilot this small but powerful ship. It has been the greatest honor of my life to date to work in a team of people dedicated to tirelessly learning, growing and sharing stories that remind us that design is much more than what we put into our homes it is about the people, the challenges and the crucial moments that make these houses into homes.
To my team, thank you. They have given me a lot of patience, trust and support. I hope I did my best to show you how much I appreciate and appreciate this generous gift. I know that in the next few chapters we will continue to connect and overlap as long as we work together here. And I hope you all know that I will always be there for each one of you, always. They were all so dedicated and caring writers, but more importantly, they were extraordinary people. It is an honor to know each one of you and to call you my friend. Thank you for making Design * Sponge what it is and always will be: a place where friends can meet, connect and learn from each other.
To our community, thanks. Your creativity, your exuberance, your diversity, your energy and your talent have been our driving force since day one. What you all do is indescribable. They are artists, designers, creators, innovators, dreamers and doers. And I'm forever grateful that you all exist in our world. They inspired me to do better, to work harder and to grow with every step of the journey, and Design * Sponge would not exist without the beauty and honesty you bring to the world every day. Many thanks, Not only to inspire Design * Sponge from the first day, but also to remind us that design is so much more than thingsIt's about people and connections and about building something meaningful.
Earlier this month, we met outside Philadelphia to celebrate Design * Sponge with our friends for 15 years terrain, They kindly supported us from the beginning and generously offered to host a farewell party for this bittersweet occasion. It was an evening full of love, hugs, tears and memories, for which I am always grateful. I am also grateful for that Ian Fursa Filmed our farewell party and made a 5-minute short film about the history of Design * Sponge and what it means for us all to work together on this project. The end result is a love letter to this site, our community, our team and the memories shared together. I hope you will watch us in a last moment of reflection, love and gratitude and join us.
Thank you for leaving us live out so many our dreams Here these last fifteen years. There will never be enough words to express the depth and sincerity of my gratitude for everything you have given us and all the love you have shown us. I promise that we will honor the love you have shown us by continuing to pay for it in everything we do.
