In our region, as in many other US states, there has been a massive heat wave lately. The high temperatures kept us mostly in the house, and after so much time at home due to the summer holidays Nick and I both had cabin fever.
I knew we needed a scene change, so I called my mother. I told her we were thinking about coming out for a game night and I thought it would be fun to make our M & M Blizzard recipe.
Surely we could have gone to Dairy Queen and got a blizzard there, but it was much nicer to make our own home. Our Milk Queen has only outdoor seating and it was just too hot to sit outside and eat our ice cream. In the end, we had a big rain shower when we finished eating our blizzards, so the food in our milk queen would not have gone well anyway.

It's pretty easy to make M & M blizzards at home, but there are some things you need to make them.
How to make a M & M Blizzard at home
Depending on how cold your ice cream is, you should first remove it from the freezer to soften it. Most likely, this will not take much time because you do not want it to get liquid. They just want to have it so soft that it can be easily scooped up.
Take the desired amount of ice cream and place in your food processor. This will probably be worth about 3 good balls. Then turn on the food processor and mix until the ice is thick. This only takes a minute or so.
Then stop the food processor and put the M & Ms in the ice. The exact amount depends on how much sweets you want to mix with the ice, but 20 to 25 M & Ms should be a good amount.
After adding the M & Ms, you want to turn the food processor on again. This will not be long. You just want to keep the food processor running until the fusions are cut.
Finally, take your ice cream, which is in the food processor, and pour it into your freezer glass or glasses, depending on how much you have done. Then place the jars in the freezer to make the ice firm.
Leave the glasses in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. If it is quite warm in your house, you probably have to leave the jars in the freezer for 60 minutes. Eat them as soon as you take them out of the freezer before they start to melt!
Tips for a homemade M & M Blizzard
The process of making a homemade M & M Blizzard is pretty easy. The process does not take long, but the ice takes time to set. Therefore, it is important that you prepare the blizzards well before you actually eat them.
My food processor is not very big so I can only make a little more than one blizzard at a time. If you have a larger food processor, you can make several blizzards at once. Producing a single product takes very little time, so a larger food processor only saves you time when making many blizzards.
I have to say that the hardest part of the Blizzard manufacturing process is figuring out how much ice each blizzard needs. I suggest 3 scoops of good sized ice, but this may not be the size for you. It really depends on the type of glasses you use to hold the blizzards after making them and how much ice they can hold.
