Car manufacturers have a wide range of who they will buy a WiTricity system from
Yura Corporation is another company (but the first automotive supplier from South Korea) that has opted for a license WiTricity Wireless charging technology for electric vehicles.
"The agreement allows Yura to access WiTricity's wireless charging technology, intellectual property (IP) and intellectual property (IP) support to develop and market wireless EV charging systems. Yura is the first Tier 1 licensee of WiTricity in South Korea and one of the largest Asian manufacturers of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle components for domestic use and export. "
WiTricity's DRIVE 11 system, rated at 11kW, sounds a trifle, but despite a growing number of manufacturers (see list below), there are still no vehicles with wireless charging on the market (well, there are a few exceptions).
Licenses have been announced with:
- Toyota
- Aptiv (formerly Delphi)
- Mahle
- TDK
- IHI
- Shindengen
- Daihen
- BRUSA
- Anjie Wireless
- Yura Corporation
Global corporate investors now include:
- Qualcomm
- Toyota
- Intel Capital
- Delta Electronics Capital
- Foxconn
- Schlumberger
"WiTricity offers the greatest experience and expertise in the wireless electric vehicle market. We will rely on their advanced offering to help us build a wireless charging system in the future. "
Alex Gruzen, CEO of WiTricity, said:
"The global demand for electric vehicles is growing rapidly. South Korea is an important market for the development and production of electric vehicles. The selection of WiTricity by Yura is a testament to our mature technology and progress in the introduction of global standards. We look forward to a strong partnership with Yura and contribute to the introduction of EV worldwide through efficient and convenient wireless charging.
