The police arrested a 60-year-old man, Benjamin Omole, for allegedly involving an eleven-year-old girl in sex trumps in Surulere, Lagos, where they live.

It was gathered that Omole lured the victim into his apartment, took off her clothes and spotted her before she let her go, but she warned her not to tell anyone.

However, the matter was revealed after the parents found changes in the behavior and in the body of the victim. She was confronted and she revealed that Omole, popularly called Baba, had slept with her.

The matter was reported to the police in the area and Omole was arrested. The matter was later handed over to the Department of Gender of State Command for investigation.

The suspect Omole admitted that he had slept with the eleven-year-old girl, but said that he had not forced her, as her parents claimed.

The police found him guilty and charged him with the Ogba Magistrates Court for contamination, which could jail several years in prison if convicted.

However, when the matter arrived at the court, his plea was not raised after the prosecutor had asked the court to seek advice from the DPP, as the victim was a minor.

The presiding judge, Ms. O.Sule-Amzat, therefore ordered that Omole be detained without release of the bail. The court also ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

Therefore, Omole will remain in custody until the results of the DPP consultation. And if the DPP finds him guilty, the matter is brought to the High Court for trial.
