The army's Nigerian chief of staff, Tuku Buratai, has threatened to drag former Deputy APC spokesman Timi Frank for accusing him of being involved in a plan to prepare for the 2019 parliamentary elections.

Below is a statement from his lawyer, Ugochukwu Osuagwu, available to PoliticsNGR.

I read with dismay the allegation of the former Deputy National Public Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, who accused the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, of intervening with President Muhammadu Buhari met and some members of his government on Saturday at midnight with the aim of perfecting the rigging strategies before the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Frank said in a statement sent to DAILY POST on Sunday that he had unquestionable evidence from sources about the alleged nocturnal meeting between Yakubu, Buhari's relatives, Amina Zakari, General Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Chief of Staff, brought along President Abba Kyari, National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai at midnight on Saturday at the Defense House.

I must say at this point that this claim is hollow and smells of false news. The assertion that LT General TY Buratai met with the INEC chairman to perfect the vote rigging is extremely outrageous and an attempt to tarnish the reputation of LT Gen TYBuratai, whom I have been a gentleman and respectful for nearly four years Man know the law and the proper procedure. Timi Frank should be called upon to prove this allegation within 48 hours or be forced to do so by legal action, not limited to being called upon by law enforcement agencies to prove this allegation.

Timi Frank should not allow me to expose him to any violations he was involved in a few years ago when I'm hit against the wall.

Timi Frank thus has 48 hours, within which he receives the defamatory statement he received from LT.Gen T.Y. has to retire. Buratai on the false accusation of rigging or against LEGAL ACTION. "
