CRAZY SEXY WOOL CARE MANUAL | Wool and the gang blog Knitting

We have a partnership with The washerwoman to give you the ultimate care of your Crazy Sexy Wool knitwear.

Do you think of wool and cashmere as a dry clean only? Think again. Your Crazy Sexy Wool was made with love and should be cared for with love! Washing your wool properly will preserve the fibers and natural lanolin, making your favorite pieces last longer and saving you time, money and the environment.

Pre-treat stains and odor

Pre-treat stains with Laundress Stain Solution or Laundress Wash & Stain Bar by applying directly to affected areas and vulnerable areas such as forearms, cutouts, and cuffs.

To neutralize strong odors, mix a quarter cup of The Laundress Scented Vinegar with cold water and soak for 30 minutes. You will enjoy the benefits of white vinegar without feeling the disturbing smell.

Prepare for washing by inverting all parts to avoid friction and fading. Wash only with the same or similar colors.

Handwash

While we apply the same treatment to all members of the wool family (including alpaca and mohair), the safest and gentlest method is to avoid washing the items by hand and to wash them by hand only.

To wash your hands, put two caps or a splash of pH neutral wool and cashmere detergent in a sink or sink filled with cold water

Immerse your items and gently shake them with your hands to evenly distribute soap and water. Soak for up to 30 minutes.

Run cold water through the items until the rinse water is no longer soapy. Do not wrestle, as this will cause distortion. Instead, gently squeeze the water between your hands or against the sink of your items.

Note: Do not worry if the water has color! It is normal. The yarn dye will simply release color and you will not notice any color loss after washing.

Or machine wash

If you need to wash in the machine, we strongly recommend the use of mesh wash bags. Follow these steps to get the best results:

For washing in the machine, invert the parts and place them in a mesh wash bag to protect them from movement and friction that can cause matting, shrinking and pilling.

Select the wool or gentle cycle in your washing machine and make sure the water temperature is cold and the spin is low. Add wool and cashmere shampoo according to the type of machine and the size of the cargo. Remove the knitwear from the washing machine immediately after the cycle to avoid wrinkling.

Dry and ready

Lay the items flat in their natural shape on a drying rack or a clean towel. When drying, avoid direct sunlight and heat sources such as the radiator, as they may shrink or damage the wool. Never hang wet wool as this can cause stretching and distortion.

Lay an item flat on a towel. Roll the item in its original shape (like a sleeping bag) into the towel to remove excess water.

By ironing, the natural pile of yarns can be crushed or flattened. Instead, steam to remove wrinkles, odors, and bacteria. You can also spray the Laundress Wool & Cashmere Spray between wearing and washing. It is a non-toxic, allergen-free fabric spray that gives a cedar smell while eliminating odors.

Pills and lint

Remove annoying pills from fine threads by gently sliding the Laundress Sweater Comb over the pill areas. For heavier items, slide over pill areas with The Laundress Sweater Stone. Tools always work in one direction.

Use the Laundress Cashmere Brush between the pads to remove lint, lint and hair while releasing natural oils that rejuvenate the yarns.

camp

Always store knitwear folded to avoid stretching or distortion. It is always important to clean wool before storage as perfume, body products, body oil, food and dirt are a "food source" for insects.

Before packing, spray with wool and cashmere spray and place in a breathable cotton zippered bag. In the general purpose storage bag by The Laundress. Funny fact: moths can not eat by cotton! Never store with plastic, cardboard, drawer inserts and contact paper as they will all cause errors and promote error reproduction.
