Pininfarina Battista is currently the chosen name of the new car production from Italian design house and coachbuilder Pininfarina.

The electric Hypercar, previously codenamed PF0, will make its debut at the 2019 International Motor Show in March. It is said to be the fastest and most powerful car ever to hit the market in Italy and has a torque of 1,696 pound-feet. That's the double power of a Ferrari LaFerrari.

Pininfarina announced on Tuesday the name Battista and released two more teaser photos of the car.

Battista is, of course, the first name of the Pininfarina founder Battista Pininfarina (née Battista Farina), and it is appropriate, as it was the founder's life's dream to eventually found a car brand under his own name. While he could not realize this dream before his death in 1966, the company he founded today is run by his grandson Paolo Pininfarina.

"My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina cars," Pininfarina said in a statement. "For us, we just had to call [the hypercar] Battista; His dream becomes reality today as we combine our glorious past with the future of motoring. "

The Battista is promised with 0-60 mph less than two seconds and a top speed of more than 250 mph, which should deliver 1,900 horsepower. Pininfarina also has a range of more than 300 miles, although we would bet that this is only possible when driving at legal speeds.

The bodywork company Pininfarina will be responsible for the production, while Rimac has already done so knocked to supply the drive train, Rimac is the Croatian OEM offering the electric Hypercar C_Two with 1,914 hp. Former Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld was commissioned to bring the emission-free Bugatti Chiron to the track. Heidfeld will also be the leading tester for future Pininfarina models, which are powerful, ultra-luxurious EVs. The next model will be a big SUV with seats in the third row.

The cars will be under the Pura design philosophy, Pura, Italian for "pure", is all about design clarity, in which form and function are one and the same, Pininfarina announced in November.

Pininfarina will limit Battista's production to 150 vehicles, 50 of them for the United States. The price is between 2 and 2.5 million US dollars. The first deliveries will begin in late 2020, almost exactly 90 years after the founding of Pininfarina.
