Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi from Enugu State has announced a free transport for tribal peoples living in other parts of the country who intend to return home to celebrate the festive season with their loved ones.

The managing director of Enugu State Transportation Company (ENTRACO), Mr. Bob Itanyi, announced that the gesture "in the spirit of Christmas" and "in accordance with the tradition of this administration, to meet the needs of the people and give them the feeling to belong to the true heroes of democracy ".

Mr Itanyi added that the decision was also taken from the Government of Uganda. Ugwanyy's generosity and passion for the well-being of the masses, especially the lower and the less privileged.

The Managing Director explained that the free transport will start on December 20 and will be held in faraway state-owned cities such as Abuja, Lagos, Jos, Ibadan, Kaduna, Kano, Minna, Gombe, Ilorin, Sokoto , Jalingo, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Port Harcourt and others

He stated that the beneficiaries must be those duly registered with the Enugu State Town Union in their respective country of residence. They stated that the institution coordinates the exercise with the leadership of unions in the affected states in terms of accountability and effective results.

Mr Itanyi further stated that on arrival in the state, the returnees are officially received by the State Government delegation in the former main depot of ENTRACO, next to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Enugu.

He reiterated the determination of the provincial government to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in the exercise, and emphasized that it will not be as usual as "we will bring back the Enugu State Indigenous physically and not ghost indigenous".

According to him, "nothing is hidden during the exercise. The heads of state and government of the Enugu State Town Union in each state have been mobilized to ensure that our people benefit from this outstanding social system that has extended the state government to the people of the state.

"We therefore warmly thank our sincere and endearing Governor for this gesture, which has once again demonstrated his love, care and passion for the well-being of the people of Enugu State."
