Banky W speaks about state police, promising to publicly declare his assets if elected

Popular Nigerian singer, Banky W (Olubankole Wellington), has pledged to support the establishment of a state police if elected.

The entertainer, who is vying for a seat in the House of Representatives in 2019, said he was also willing to publicly declare his fortune if elected to represent the Eti Osa constituency of Lagos in the House of Representatives.

The singer with the actor made these remarks on Monday, December 10, while he was talking to Premium times.

When asked if he supports the state police, he said:

I think Nigeria is too big for a country to be effectively controlled at the federal level, and I think there are so many problems in our communities that I believe states should be able to run their own police forces. "

"I know that we really have great police officers, but I think they are underfunded and not really supported. I think there are some reforms that are needed throughout the police, and I would encourage us to look at the state police. "

He says he'll declare his fortune publicly if he's elected, but he has no political godchild.

In November, Banky W had declared his ambition to represent the local administrative districts of Eti-Osa in Lagos in the context of the Modern Democratic Party, a political party founded in 2017 by some youth associations.
