The 992 generation of the Porsche core model is probably one of the worst-kept (and in more than one way predictable) secrets in the company's history.

That's because we've already seen it almost completely unclothed at the end of this summer. The moment in which the first official photos of a brand new Porsche 911 generation get online is still a special moment. These three pictures with bad resolution are sent on Jalopnik from an anonymous Tipster are as official as possible and show us the 992 generation in all its (pixelated) splendor. As you might expect, the 911's eighth generation is not surprising.

The sports car continues with the round headlights, the iconic side profile and the muscular hind legs – the latter elements are more effective than on his predecessor,

As far as the taillights are concerned, they are more heavily revised than their front counterparts. They are slimmer than before and are connected by an illuminated light bar, which makes the vehicle appear wider. The dimensions are not yet available, but do not expect much change Current 991,

The engine will continue to sit on the rear axle, there are both rear-wheel and four-wheel variants as well as dozens of derivatives. There will be revised turbodiesel engines with turbocharger with 385 hp in the base 911 Carrera and 450 hp in the Carrera S. The most important mechanical improvement we know so far is a new eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission that replaces the current seven-speed unit. A seven-speed manual transmission will also be available.

As shown in previous spy shots, designers had more freedom to unleash their creativity inside the 911 than outside. The dashboard is more complex than the current model, and includes a new instrument cluster with four of the five gauges now digital. The cab also receives new switchgear, shifters and air conditioning.

If you feel like we need more photos and information about the 991, you should know that Porsche will be the new 911 on November 27 on the eve of LA Auto Show 2018, at 8 p.m. Local time.
