In an interview with PRNigeria, Lane Issa-Onilu, the National Public Information Secretary of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) said that the allegation against Kano's Gano governor Abdullahi Ganduje, to collect kickbacks from contractors, would not replace the 2019 election.

According to PREMIUM TIMESIssa-Onilu, who was asked if the embattled governor should eventually be dropped as a Kano governor candidate by APC in light of the published video clips, said Ganduje was the default carrier of APC in next year's governing elections.

He clearly pointed out that the party lacks the opportunity to change or arbitrarily replace a candidate with good will, adding: "The INEC Guidelines for the selection or replacement of candidates are explicit and do not give the political parties the power to arbitrarily, arbitrarily or ruthlessly replace a candidate for lax reasons.

"Only when a candidate dies, voluntarily resigns from a poll, or issues a court ruling can a candidate be replaced or replaced, if you wish.

Regardless of the unfortunate development, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is and remains APC's candidate for Kano Guber, and remember that the governor has sued the publisher of the online media for defaming the character. " he concluded

In the meantime, a top Kano state official who vowed for anonymity said parties in Nigeria are collecting donations and commissions from individuals and groups to fund electoral campaigns and mobilize members for political rallies.

The politician, who claimed to be actively involved in the mobilization of the APC fund in the state, said: "Already in 2016, preparations were made to prepare for presumptive elections and re-elections in 2019, in which proposals were made to accept donations and commissions from patrons and state contractors who benefit from the government's gesture.

"These donations are not for Ganduje, but for the party. They will be used to fund the Party's activities and campaigns for the re-election of President President, the Governor and other APC 2019 general election candidates.

"Political donations and commission payments are a common and legitimate means of appreciation and reward for the patronage. Even in media organizations generous discounts and commissions of 30 to 40% are granted.

"Ganduje has therefore done nothing dishonest and scandalous as other state governors also benefit from gifts, rewards and donations from people who can afford to give."

Another insider in the party and the head of the government of Kano, who also spoke confidently, said that although Ganduje may have been caught bribing, as Kano governor, he surpassed all expectations and was the party's most credible flag bearer Guaranteed to have landslide victory in the next government elections.

"The governor has carried out several beneficial projects in the states. If he did not perform well at all, did President Buhari congratulate him in Paris? Nothing can be more important than that Mr. President Ganduje has certainly recommended on a diplomatic journey. "
