Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has come under criticism for Chelsea, but manager Maurizio Sarri has jumped to the defense of his player.

So far in 42 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, Alvaro Morata has come up with just 16 goals and six assists while boasting a shot accuracy of just 45 per cent.

"Morata is a quality player, almost and technically gifted. He's a sensitive person and the hurt had hurt him, "Sarri said to 'DiMarzio'.

"The results and the quality of our football are positive. 18 games without a loss, in such a competitive reality show that we're on the right track. "

The Italian manager defended another of his players, David Luiz. The Brazilian defender has often been caught out due to a lost paint of discipline. However, Sarri was surprised by Luiz's approach.

"There is not a lot of time between the training sessions and I think it does not help the coach nor the players," he added.

"It's not just about the physical aspect but about the mental one. David Luiz surprises me with his availability and cleverness. "
