The Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) on Thursday called on its members to vote governors of the governments against the proposed minimum wage of 30,000.

She added that the threat posed by the Nigeria Governors & # 39; Forum (NGF) to lay off workers would not be intimidating when the new national minimum wage is introduced.

The president of the NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, said this yesterday in Abuja.

The governors had said that the payment of 30,000 new minimum wages would lead to bankruptcy, adding that only the states of Lagos and Rivers could afford it.

Governor of Zamfara State and NGF Chairman Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, also said that it was impossible to introduce the minimum wage of N30,000 without reducing the workforce across the country.

Wabba responded to the governors' attitude by saying that Nigerian workers would vote for any governor who refuses to implement the new minimum wage.

He said the threat of dismissal of workers was not new to the union. "Therefore, the current governor appointed by Zamfara can not be used to intimidate the work."
