Plug-in car sales in the Netherlands grow so fast this year that it's difficult to find a faster-expanding market.

Some in October 2,058 Plug-ins were sold, which means 147% more than a year ago on a high 6.8% market share,

To date, more than 17,000 plug-ins have been sold in the country this year – nearly 150% more than in 2017 at that time. One of the main reasons is the upcoming change of tax rates for expensive electric cars:

  • Current BEV BIK tax: 4% at full price
  • From 1 January 2019: 4% The tax is only charged up to € 50,000. The amount over € 50,000 will be taxed 22%
