press release

In support of its commitment to maintaining peace and promoting economic prosperity, the Government of Akwa Ibom State has declared a three-day fasting and prayer program from 15 to 17 November, 2018the beginning of political campaigns and other political activities for the 2019 general elections.

However, this does not mean a holiday. In the first two days of the program, this was both in public office and in the private sector business The sites are expected to gather and pray at the end of the work to complete the fast. On Saturday, November 17, 2018, anyone who makes it to the banquet hall, Government Building, Uyo, will be invited to a closing prayer at 4:00 pm for an open service.

The theme of the program, which defies mere rhetoric politics is "PEACE BE STILL" (Mark 4:39) and the essence is to pray together to God to avert all forms of bloodshed and violence in our state during the election campaign period. We also want to pray that God, no matter how the messengers of evil are overwhelmed to rob us of our peaceful surroundings, should continue to protect and sustain us. Our last point of prayer would be that only ordained godly leaders will emerge in all election offices as winners.

The Government of the State of Akwa Ibom urges our spiritual fathers and leaders of religious organizations, churches, government agencies, markets, agricultural settlements, schools, power parks and even every business organization to encourage their members to participate in these very important three organizations-day program. Citizens and inhabitants of the state Akwa Ibom; Regardless of political affiliation or religious inclination, it is also urged to work for the peace and unity of our beloved state.

As a people, we must thank God the Almighty for his relentless benevolence and abundance of peace, which our beloved state has enjoyed over the last three and a half years. We do not take that for granted. We worked, traveled around the world to paint a beautiful picture of a new and wealthy Akwa Ibom. Our efforts have been rewarded by the large and continuous influx of investors to our country. The preservation of this new economic prosperity depends on peace, security and security within our borders. We believe that politics should not be a platform to roll out drums of violence and crime that can destroy everything we've built up in recent years.

The Government of the State of Akwa Ibom has therefore taken adequate security measures to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in our state during the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Only God can give us peace within and outside the term and we trust that he is always faithful to do this for us.

God bless us all, Akwa Ibom Dakkada.
