The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) deployed a commission of inquiry last Friday to investigate the allegations of harassment and gunfire on motorists in Ibadan by their airmen.

Sqn. Ldr. Chidinma Ojukwu, PR representative for the Propulsion Command (PRO) of the Logistics Command of the Headquarters, announced this on Sunday in a statement in Abuja.
An online publication reported that soldiers (NAF pilots) harassed and shot motorists in the area of Iwo Road in Ibadan on 9 November.

"The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Logistics Command has been alerted to an online publication claiming that soldiers (NAF airmen) harassed and shot motorists in the area of Iwo Road in Ibadan on Friday, November 9 to have.

"Therefore, a preliminary investigation of the incident was carried out, and it was obvious that the report, as reported, was not accurate, but rather misleading," said Ojukwu.

The reigning PRO said that any NAF personnel wanted or found guilty of criminal offenses following a full investigation must be punished under the laws of the country.
He said the NAF is committed to professionalism and responsible to the Nigerian people.

Ojukwu assured the public that NAF, as a highly professional and disciplined force, would not tolerate indiscriminate violation of Nigerian rights.

The spokesman added that the public was informed about the results of the investigation.
