Mitsubishi is committed to PHEVs

Mitsubishi believes in electrification, but at least for the next few years and for SUVs, plug-in hybrid models with purely electric models are being used.

According to Autocar, the company has no plans for a fully electric SUV and generally bespoke BEV models. The way for Mitsubishi is to introduce some models with different powertrain options – hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric.

"Battery EVs currently have a limit on range, and in some countries this may not be the answer," said Mitsubishi's strategy chief Vincent Cobee. He added that the company would add all-electric models and extend its PHEV powertrain to other models. "

"Cobee reiterated that in the future, the company will not develop a tailor-made range of EV-specific models, but instead offers battery EV, hybrid and PHEV versions of its models."

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will get a new generation, and it is already known that the Japanese manufacturer wants to increase the purely electric range from 50 km to 50-60.5 km,

That should be enough to cover most daily driving profiles.

Interestingly, there will be no PHEV package for the L200 pickup because "Technology is not yet economical or beneficial for commercial vehicles", Maybe in the next decade.
