Peter Obi, former governor of the state of Anambra, accused Nasir el-Rufai of "recklessness" after the governor of the Kaduna called him "tribal fanaticism".

Obi, vice-presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), told the governor to pray for "people like him" during the outbreak.

El-Rufai wrote via his Twitter handle: "Peter Obi is a tribal fanatic. He has been widely cited on national television that the SSS had rightfully detained me in a hotel for 48 hours in 2014 on the grounds that "El-Rufai has no shop in Anambra because it is not the state of Katsina!"

@elrufai
Peter Obi is a bigot of tribes. He was widely cited on national television that the SSS had rightfully detained me in a hotel for 48 hours in 2014 on the grounds that "El-Rufai has no business in the Anambra since it is not the state of Katsina"! I sued the SSS and granted N4m damages.

In a quick moment of unnecessary impetus, Peter Obi concentrated some Northerners, mostly those who were doing minor jobs to survive, and marching back to their base in trailer load. For him, these guys had no business in Anambra State. "Https://leadership.ng/2018/11/09/peter-obi-ghost-of-the-past-and-reality-of-today/…

But during a youth program in Nnewi, Anambra, on Saturday, Obi said nothing justifies the governor's statement.

He said, "What Mr. Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai has said about me has been brought to my notice. I believe that as we get older and faced with more responsibilities, we expect to be prudent in our thinking and to avoid recklessness in our speeches and utterances.

"How did the circumstance to which he referred referred to bigotry to justify such a label?

"All I do for people like el-Rufai is to pray for them and encourage them to focus on the things that are improving the amount of Nigerians instead of dealing with hate speech that divides the country and to be destroyed. "
