CAF reveals 11 categories for 2018 awards

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has presented 11 categories for the CAF Awards 2018 on Monday, November 5th.

In an opinion posted yesterday on his website, CAF unveiled the categories for individual and collective awards.

It is also said that nominees will be selected for their performance from February 2018 to November 2018.

The categories for the CAF Awards 2018 were finalized following a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the event last week in Dakar, Senegal. They are as follows;

1st African Player of the Year

2nd Women's Player of the Year

3rd Youth Player of the Year

4th Men's Coach of the Year

5th Women's Coach of the Year

6th men's national team of the year

7th women's national team of the year

8th goal of the year

9. Africa Finest XI

10th Ydnekatchew Tessema Trophy for the President of the Federation of the Year

11th platinum price

The winners of the African Player of the Year and the Female Player of the Year are determined by:

– CAF Committee on Technology and Development

– Media experts, legends, CAF Champions League quarter-finalists and the CAF Confederation Cup

Coaches and captains of the 54 member associations

The categories – Youth Player of the Year, Men's Coach of the Year, Women's Coach of the Year, Men's National Team of the Year and Women's National Team of the Year are selected by:

– CAF Committee on Technology and Development

– Media experts, legends, CAF Champions League quarter-finalists and the CAF Confederation Cup

For the first time, FIFPro will co-ordinate the Africa Finest XI, while the goal of the year will be set by public online voting.

Nominees will be selected for their performance from February 2018 to November 2018.

The Awards Gala, which honors footballers, officials and administrators who won awards in the year under review, will be held in Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday, 8 January 2019.
