Former Chief of Staff of Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Uche Nwosu, said yesterday that National Progressive Congress (APC) President Adams Oshiomhole could not stop his candidacy for the 2018 APC post in the state.

Nwosu spoke with journalists in Owerri after reporting that Senator Hope Uzodimma, the name of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had been presented as an authentic candidate for Imo APC Guber.

He said he was shocked that Oshiomhole had disregarded the court orders to prevent APC and INEC from accepting or submitting any other name (Nwosu). He added that he would finally defeat Oshiomole lawfully.

According to Nwosu, "My mandate is still intact, I'm still the APC candidate. I am very shocked by the national chairman who speaks from both sides of his mouth as a man of that age, which I thought he would have been upright.

"I am shocked that a man who has reached this age and whom we should look up to as a role model has become someone whom many of us are no longer able to see as a role model.

"I am shocked by the attitude of the national leader, who gives no hope to young people who are looking for him for years at a time.

"I will not leave APC, I am still the authentic candidate of this party. I still have a valid court that prevents the party from giving a different name, and also prevents INEC from accepting a name other than my name and the matter court.

"So if they went somewhere and got another court order, without knowing that there is an existing court order that must have been made so wrong.

"So the fact remains that I am the candidate of APC, it's only for a while and I will accept my mandate, I do not intend to give up the mandate I already have for another party."

"My candidacy is secure and can not be cut off by the national chairman or any other person.

"I will never give up the mandate given by the party members to be their governing candidate for the 2019 election.

"We are disappointed with the actions of Oshiomhole, his expressions and antics did not give any hope to young people who had always looked up to him."

Nwosu argued, "After all, Oshiomole's son is a member of the Edo State House of Assembly that he has nominated, and he is the chairman of the party, and he says that Okorocha's senatorial ambition undermines my governance.

"He's a man who speaks right and should not fool people in the air. I saw him on TV when he talked about both sides of his mouth.

"It is a pity that APC could have such a man as its national chairman, I condemn his actions and is unacceptable."
