The Ford Lommel Proving Ground in Belgium has a 100 km test track with more than 100 different pothole sizes and damaged surfaces.

Harzados surfaces from 25 different countries that are known to have one of the worst roads have been mapped and recreated to obtain these average-looking surfaces Terrifying potholes, granite blocks, cobblestones and tormenting bumps.

When testing new cars, Ford engineers drive through potholed sections of road at up to 46 mph, using high-tech equipment to observe the effects on the suspension and occupants of the vehicle.

All this is to ensure the toughness and longevity of suspension systems in all cars.
