Ford will discontinue production at its Almussafes facility in eastern Spain in November for nine days as demand for some of its vehicles wanes.

Speak with ReutersA car manufacturer spokesman revealed that engine production in the facility will also be halted for 13 days next month. Many of Ford's Spanish-built engines are sent to Canada for use in Canada edge SUV.

The site, which was found near Valencia, builds the Ford Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, Kuga SUV and the Tourneo Connect and Transit Connect Vans. At the last count it employed about 7500 workers.

This last production interruption comes after a 3-day factory shutdown earlier this month.

ford has not said which markets are responsible for reduced demand for some of its models. However, the company is far from the only one in the industry to see a drop in demand. Earlier this week, Jaguar Land Rover In China, production ceased due to declining demand for vehicles in China.

A temporary break in production in the Spanish production site should hardly hurt Ford in the long run. What will shake the future of the company even more is the ongoing plans to do away with almost everything except off-road vehicles for its offer in the United States.
