The inhabitants of the village Ehvetkasy once woke up and learned that near their fences, there would be an industrial enterprise, and another hostel for 500 people. Unexpected neighbors of the Chuvash will be the inhabitants of the Middle Kingdom.

The authorities of Chuvashia sold and handed over the former collective farm lands to the Chinese, actually together with people. The indigenous people found out about the deal last, when new owners began to hammer the stakes along the borders of their possessions, cutting the usual village paths and roads.

Since then, in these quiet villages began a hectic life. people began to protest, collecting village meetings and sending complaints about this land lawlessness to the leaders of the republic and even to the Kremlin.

A little more than one million 200 thousand people live on the territory of Chuvashia, 816 thousand of which are Chuvash. This small people of Russia retained their language and culture, and the habit of working in his blood. As a result, there are well-kept gasified villages everywhere, smooth roads, and everything grows and ripens in the gardens. For many centuries the locals cultivated the land and raised cattle.

Today it turned out that in the framework of the economic development project of the republic, the authorities of Chuvashia transferred 40 hectares of former collective farm lands to the Chinese, actually together with people. The indigenous people found out about the deal last, when new owners began to hammer pins on the borders of their possessions, literally near their fences. A boundary line appeared around the village, and the nearest road to the bus stop, along with the fields, suddenly became a private Chinese territory.

Locals oppose this, and now Ekhvetkas residents go to the village gathering as if to work. They found that a cooperation agreement between the Chuvash Republic and the Chinese province of Sichuan was signed several years ago. According to residents, the land sale agreement entered into force on September 11.

The village elder and deputy of a rural settlement, Mikhail Vasilyev, shows sheets with the signatures of more than two hundred people from five nearby villages who do not want to live in the vicinity of Chinese production. He says that the local authorities forged a document about the alleged hearings in the village and signed it retroactively. “My father fought, he died in the war, we worked all my life on this land, how can you sell this land, did they fight for that? Didn’t ask and sell anyone,” the local elder was indignant.

According to Vasiliev, in the case of the construction of the enterprise, all the wastewater will go into the ground or flow into the lake. This is the main danger for Ehvetkas, where all live in agriculture and have their own wells.

The Egorov brothers were born here, so it’s unpleasant for them as indigenous people that the authorities didn’t even tell the people about the grandiose construction project. “Fifty years of this economy, my great-grandfather still led. As before, everything was blooming and growing, and not these plants,” says one of the brothers.

In the absence of information on the village rumors spread. “The best lands are being sold out in the center of Russia. A map was drawn to the Urals that it was their republic, all of Siberia. They have such a map,” they say.

And they also say that in the fenced territory they had to build a cottage settlement, shops, schools for orphans. Apparently, the transfer of land for industrial construction was quiet, just like all other transactions. But to talk about this activists protest is strongly prohibited. “It’s impossible to get too much. It happens, they warn you by phone. Do not raise political issues. The gathering is allowed. But the rally must be coordinated,” says Peter Egorov.

In the Ministry of Economic Development of Chuvashia, the demarche of the village is considered harmful. In the center, everything was decided long ago: the Chinese in Chuvashia are serious and for a long time. In the Chuvash village there is gas and electricity, which is very attractive for construction and investment, and business is not interested in protest public opinion.

In the meantime, residents believe that "the Chinese do not need a plant, they have the main land. And under the auspices of the plant, they will move here." ist
