The Auto Bild magazine has unveiled the first computer image of the future Mercedes GLE Coupe, which will be unveiled in 2019.

The second generation of the Mercedes GLE Coupe is based on the new platform, which is also used for the new GLE (W167), which was unveiled on September 11th and will compete against the future BMW X6 and the new Audi Q8.

Mercedes hopes to repeat the commercial success of the previous generation GLE Coupe (C 292), which was launched at the Detroit Motorshow on the third generation (W166) in January 2015.

The new Mercedes GLE Coupé is powered by the new generation of 6-cylinder 3-liter petrol and diesel engines as well as a new plug-in hybrid and a hybrid version. A four-cylinder engine is not expected, but the V8 AMG will be on the list.

The range includes the GLE Coupe 350 d and 400 d with the new 6-cylinder 3-liter turbo diesel with 286 and 340 hp and the new gasoline 6-liter GLE 450 coupe, which celebrates its premiere in the new GLE 450 4Matic.

The AMG GLE 53 Coupe will use the hybrid powertrain, while the expected GLE plug-in hybrid will get the new 13.5 kWh battery and a more powerful electric motor. Under the hood of the GLE 63 S we find the new 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine.

9-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive will be standard.
