The presidential candidate of the All Progression Congress (APC) in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said on Saturday he would lead a government based on the wishes of the people, if elected.

He made the pledge in Ikeja as he spoke during a thank-you visit to party members in the senegional zone of Lagos West.

The APC candidate said his policies and programs were based on people's yearnings and aspirations.

He added that he would always keep an open ear in the service of the state.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu, speaking in Yoruba, said he is looking for the number one in the state, with a passion to serve people and take the state to higher altitudes.

"I'm in the governor's race because I want to serve the people.

"I promise that if we are chosen by the grace of God, I will lead a government based on human aspirations.

"I will be a listening governor, I will take care of the needs of the people.

"I am here to serve, and I will do my best to take the state to greater heights," he said.

While he appreciates that the party members voted him as a candidate in the primaries just completed, Mr. Sanwo-Olu said he believed that his election was based on the trust they had placed in him to address issues. the attention required.

The candidate, however, urged members to prepare for the challenges ahead by mobilizing members and residents to win the 2019 victory.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu called on members to leave the primaries behind and work together to ensure that APC 2019 is victorious.

"Thank you for supporting me to come so far, I am very thankful and I will not disappoint you.

"But the task is bigger, it is no longer a party matter, but we are going to the parliamentary elections.

"So, I want to address you, that we start our preparations from now on.

"We should all reach and carry out this project together.

"We should get over the problems of the primaries and stay together.

"I know that some people feel bad, that they can not achieve one or the other endeavor, it is natural.

"But we have to leave all that behind and get everyone on the train to secure the victory in 2019."

Mr. Sanwo-Olu said that APC has earned the residents' trust by delivering democratic dividends.

Rabiu Oluwa, Lagos Senate Chairman of the party, described Mr. Sanwo-Olu as a man with the passion and vision to bring Lagos forward.

He said the party members had given him confidence, so he acted as governor's candidate.

Oluwa urged party members to continue to support the candidate to secure the victory in 2019.

In addition, Kemi Nelson, the leader of the Southwest Zone, called on party members to redouble their efforts to secure the party's victory.

Ms. Nelson appealed to party members not to underestimate the opposition, but they saw the Sanwo Olu project as one in which they had to do their best.

"We should not underestimate the opposition at all, we should not pretend that they are not there.

"We should work, work and work hard and do our best to secure the victory for our candidate and our party," she said.

Ms Nelson said she would mobilize women to ensure that the candidate wins by an overwhelming majority.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that Obafemi Hamzat, a former commissioner of plants, and Henry Ajomale, the immediate former chairman of the party in the state, were present at the meeting.

A member of the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) of the party, Abayomi Finnih, was also present among other members.
