After this Samling his 1998 title winner McLaren in Suzuka Last weekend, Hakkinen said that every return had to be taken seriously.

Hakkinen said, "I think it could be pretty easy because I have the muscles for driving that I've been riding for so many years.

"I am also a brand ambassador for Hintsa Performance, so I think they would help me a lot because they serve many, many Grand Prix drivers in this area.

"All these aspects are in the right place, so it would not be too difficult.

"But if you go out, you want to win, you do not want to finish second or third, you want to win a butt and kick."

Hakkinen was DTM race winner after his F1 career, but retired from professional motorsport in late 2007.

Most recently, in 2011, he drove a Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 in a six-hour round of the International Le Mans Cup in China.

He emphasized that the main obstacle to a serious investment in racing was his personal and business involvement, including Mercedes-Benz and Johnnie Walker.

"I've often thought about it," he said again. "I would do some kind of race, I think it would be exciting to do something.

"But honestly, it takes time, it's a commitment, I'm pretty busy with my brand ambassador, working with the company and having five kids at home, that's not a vacation either.

"When I add something to my life, all it takes is time away from the family and the work I do for the company.

"It has to be balanced."
