Senator Godswill Akpabio, the former Minority Leader in the Senate and leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom, has allegedly taken steps to return to his former party, the People's Democratic Party, after former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, became the party's presidential candidate was appointed on Sunday.

Akpabio's Senior Special Assistant for the Media, Jackson Udom, who confirmed the development, said that Senator Akpabio introduced and supported Akakab as his preferred candidate to be accepted by the state.

Jackson, whose opinion was confirmed by another media advisor to former minority leader Mfonobong Usoroh, said: "Senator Akpabio, before he moved to the APC, brought and supported Atiku as a candidate for the state, did they follow that vision?"
