The Nigerians continued to respond to the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the new Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In separate interviews with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Friday in Abuja, some respondents welcomed the appointment, while others criticized the decision, citing ethnocentric reasons.

One respondent, Mr. Femi Olufemi, said he believed that President Bichi had not appointed because of his tribe or ethnicity, but to provide based on his competence.

He said that the new DSS is a core intelligence service and a seasoned intelligence officer responsible for both general investigation and conflict prevention.
"Yusuf Bichi may be a Union Army, but we have to admit that our security needs men with such competence.
