Candidates for admission to the M.A. Yoruba Literature and Culture must possess one of the following qualifications from Lagos State University or other institutions recognized by the Lagos State University Senate:

  1. A bachelor's degree in Yoruba not under the Second Class Division.
  2. A bachelor's degree in Yoruba or Yoruba Education provided all core subjects were taken and passed by such a candidate;
  3. B. A. Yoruba Communication Art;
  4. Applicants must take an aptitude test to determine if they are suitable for the program.

duration: At least 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters.

candidates to ask for admission in the M.A. history and diplomacy must possess at least:
  1. A good bachelor's degree in history and international studies from Lagos State University, not under the Second Class Division, OR
  2. A bachelor's degree in history and its variants from another university recognized by the University of Lagos Senate OR
  3. A bachelor's degree in humanities or social sciences as acceptable to the Department and the Senate of Lagos State University.
  4. Five credit passes including English, history or government at the O-level as a prerequisite.
  5. Candidates must pass and pass an aptitude test passed by the university.

DURATION: M.A. History and Diplomacy runs for four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters (the final semester is fully devoted to writing the dissertation).

  1. Master in International Relations and Strategic Studies (MIRSS):

Applicants seeking admission to the Master's Program International Relations and Strategic Studies (MIRSS) must have one of the following qualifications:

  1. A second-grade undergraduate degree from Lagos State University or another recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University, OR
  2. A higher National Diploma (Upper Credit) or equivalent to a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University, OR
  3. A third-grade undergraduate degree from any university recognized by the University of Lagos Senate with a post-graduate diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University.
  4. Five Credit Passes including English on O-level as a basic requirement.

Candidates must pass an aptitude test passed by the university.

duration: This program lasts at least six (6) and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

  1. Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies (PGDIRSS):

Applicants for applications for the Post-Graduate Diploma Program in International Relations and Strategic Studies (PGDIRSS) must meet at least the following conditions:

  1. A bachelor's degree in History and International Studies from Lagos State University at Third Class OR
  2. A third class in history and its variants from any other university recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos OR

DURATION: This program runs for at least four (4) semesters.

  1. M. Phil. / Ph.D. History and diplomacy:

Applicants for admission to M.Phil / Ph.D. Program must have M. A. in History and Diplomacy from Lagos State University or any other recognized university with a CGPA of not less than 3.5.

duration: At least six (6) semesters.

  1. Ph.D. History and diplomacy:

Applicants looking for a direct Ph.D. The admission must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 4.0 at the M.A. level of the Institute of History and International Studies of the University of Lagos. Owners of M. A. History of other universities would have to go to M.Phil / Ph.D. enroll. Programs of the department in the first instance.

DURATION: At least six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.

  1. Admission to the program will normally be candidates with M.A. Christian Studies offered.
  2. Candidates with master's degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 by 5.0 point scale
  3. All applicants must have sufficient intellectual ability, maturity, and effective decision-making on problem-solving potential.

duration: At least six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.

  1. PGD ​​Islamic Studies

An immersion program for non-graduates of religions to integrate them into higher education in Islamic Studies

vii, Ph.D. Islamic studies

The program is open to candidates with 4.0 CGPA in M.A. Islamic Studies and candidates with a Master's degree from other recognized universities, whose transcripts are considered appropriate or required to take courses, as the Department requires.

duration: At least six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.

Bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics or Literature in English, not under the Second Class sub-division of Lagos State University or any other university recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University,

duration: At least four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

M.Phil / Ph.D.

  1. Candidates who have a master's degree in English or literature in English from a recognized university that does not include courses and dissertations with CGPA under 3.5.
  2. Applicants must have at least five (5) credit passes at the normal level (G.C.E, WASC and NECO) including English and Maths.

Duration: The minimum duration of a full-time study by M.Phil / Ph.D. The program lasts eight (8) semesters. First two (2) semesters for the coursework required for conversion to the Ph.D. Students have to register each session to keep their student body.

Ph.D.

  1. Candidates must have a Master's degree in English or literature in English from a recognized university, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0.
  2. All candidates must undergo a selected process.
  1. Department of Foreign Languages

Master in Translation and Interpreting (MTI)

  1. M.T.I is a professional course. At least a Second-Class Honors degree in French, Portuguese or Arabic from Lagos State University or an equivalent degree from a recognized university. Graduates of the postgraduate diploma from recognized institutions can also apply for the program.
  2. Applicants may fulfill all the requirements of the department prior to admission in an aptitude test.

duration: At least six (6) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

  1. M.A. Arabic

All applicants wishing to apply for admission to this program must have obtained a first academic degree in Arabic or Islamic Studies or a combined degree in one or both disciplines. Candidates whose first degree only includes Islamic Studies may be admitted, provided that.

Applicants wishing to be included in this program must meet the minimum requirements of the Postgraduate School (3.5 CGPA) and demonstrate satisfactory performance in the compulsory courses.

iii. Ph.D. Arab studies

Candidates must have a good master's degree in Arabic from a recognized university with a CGPA not less than 4.0

duration: At least six (6) semesters and a maximum of (10) semesters.

  1. M.A. French

Applicants who are seeking admission to M.A French program must possess:

  1. Second-grade Honors Degree in French or equivalent from a recognized university.
  2. However, applicants must fulfill all requirements of the department in an aptitude test prior to admission.

duration: At least four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

  1. M.Phil./Ph.D. French

Applicants for admission to M.Phil / Ph.D. French program must have:

  1. A master's degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 by the 5.0 point scale
  2. However, applicants must fulfill all requirements of the department in an aptitude test prior to admission.

duration: At least six (6) semesters.

  1. Ph.D. French
  2. Ph.D. is limited to holders of a M.A. Degree in French from a recognized university with a CGPA not less than 4.0
  3. M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree in French.

duration: At least six (6) and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.

  1. Department of Theater Art and Music
  1. DIPLOMA (PGD) THEATER ARTIST OF THE POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma in Theater Arts should have received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a third-level degree or a Master of Arts degree from Lagos State University or another university recognized by the University's Senate in other areas Theater, Performing, Dramatic, Creative, Media, Communication and Language. Such degrees should come from the humanities, law, social, management and communication sciences and related disciplines. Applicants with higher education diplomas in the above-mentioned areas with professional experience may also be admitted. In addition, potential candidates are expected to take and pass a postgraduate qualification exam.

  1. A. Theater Art

First-degree holders in theater, performing, creative, dramatic, visual, or media arts or other related disciplines with at least Second-Class Sub-Division of Lagos State University or other universities recognized by the Lagos State University Senate and holders of a theatrical arts and related disciplines A cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 is eligible. In addition, potential candidates are expected to take and pass the postgraduate qualification exam.

  1. Phil / Ph.D. THEATER ARTS

Candidates for admission are holders of the First Class (Honors) of the Second Class Lower Division. Admission to the program is open to candidates with M.A. Theater, performing, creative, dramatic, visual or media arts at Lagos State University or any other university recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University.

duration: The program is at least six [6] Semester.

Admission to the program is open to candidates with 4.0 CGPA in M.A. Theater Arts Program of Lagos State University. Candidates with a master's degree from other universities recognized by the University of Lagos Senate and whose transcripts are considered appropriate for the course may be admitted. However, such candidates may be required to attend lower-level courses, as mandated by the ministry.

Applicants for a M. Phil / PhD degree other than a Bachelor of Arts in Theater, Performing, Creative, Media, Communication, and Speech and Performing Arts must have either a two-year or one-year postgraduate degree one of the areas listed above. Potential applicants are expected to submit a study proposal to the Faculty in addition to the aptitude test.

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS IN MUSIC

(I) Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Music

First-degree musician in third-grade music or a passport from Lagos State University and other universities recognized by the Lagos State University Senate, holder or first degree in other disciplines with at least Second Class Lower Division and Higher National Diploma ( HND) in music with Upper Credit to take and pass a postgraduate qualification exam.

(Ii) M.A. Music

Holders of a first degree in music with at least second grade from the Lagos State University subdivision and other universities recognized by the Lagos State University Senate, as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Music with a CGPA of 3.0 may be admitted , In addition, potential candidates are expected to take and pass a postgraduate qualification exam.

duration: At least four (4) semesters and a maximum of six [6] Semester.

(iii) M. Phil / Ph.D. in music

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.

The M.Phil / PhD program lasts at least 2 semesters and a maximum of 4 semesters. Admission to the program is open to applicants with M.A. Music open.

(iii) Ph. D. in music

Admission to the program is open to candidates with 4.0 CGPA in M.A. Music program of Lagos State University. Candidates with a master's degree from other universities recognized by the University of Lagos Senate and whose transcripts are considered appropriate for the course may be admitted. However, such candidates may be required to attend lower-level courses, as mandated by the ministry.

M.Phil / Ph.D. candidate who is satisfied with the eligibility of the M.Phil./Ph.D.App examination board may be invited to proceed with the doctorate and to register retroactively.

duration: At least six (6) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.

Candidates for inclusion in the M.A. philosophy should normally possess at least:

  1. A good Honors Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division (2.2) in Philosophy from the Department of Philosophy, Lagos State University, or a Department of Philosophy from a University in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world, recognized by the University Senate.

  1. M.Phil/Ph.D in Human Resources Management

The M.Phil/Ph.D programme is open to candidate(s) with

A Bachelor degree of Lagos State University or of any other University with not less than second class lower division and a master’s degree with not less than 3.5 CGPA in any of the following courses: Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Human Resource and Industrial Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, Political Science and Law.
  2. Candidate must satisfy the department in selection process.
  • Candidate must satisfy all other conditions as stated in the general regulation governing post-graduate degree in the Lagos State University.

Order to convert to the Ph.D. programme, candidate must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must score at least a weighted average score of 60 per cent in all the courses taken
  2. Must pass a minimum of 30 units out of a maximum of 36 units
  • Must write and present a proposal at a departmental seminar

iii. Master in Public Administration [MPA]

The admission requirements for Master in Public Administration programme for the 2018/2019 academic session are as follows:

(a) Five (5) Credits at ‘O’ Level including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two (2) sittings

(b) Graduate from the Lagos State University or any other University recognized by the Senate of the Lagos State University with not less than Third (3rd) Class Degree

(c) Holders of HND with a minimum of Upper credit plus three years post qualification work experience

(d) Holders of HND at lower Credit must possess a Postgraduate Diploma in addition to six years work experience

iv M.Phil./Ph.D. Public administration

The applicant should demonstrate proficiency in computer applications.

  1. D. Human Resources Management
  2. An applicant must have a good first degree of Lagos State University or of any other University recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University with at least second class lower division, in any of the following disciplines: Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Business Administration, Public Administration and Law.
  3. The applicant must also have Master’s degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management or Human Resources & Industrial Relations (with course work component) from Lagos State University or any other University recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University with a minimum of CGPA 4.0.
  • Eligible candidates shall be required to attend an Oral Examination which shall be conducted by the Department.

Programme Duration: The programme duration for the Full-Time stream is a minimum of Six (6) semesters and a maximum of Ten (10) semesters. But for the Part-Time stream, it is a minimum of Ten (10) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.

Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGD)

  1. Candidates applying for the PGD in Accounting should have a Third Class in Business related courses such as Accounting, Accounting Education, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, Insurance, Industrial Relation & Personnel Management.
  2. Candidates with a second class lower degree from other field such as Engineering, Sciences, etc. are also qualified.
  • Candidates with Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Marketing and any other Management related courses at lower credit.

M.Sc. accounting

  1. A good Honours Degree at least second class lower in Accounting, Taxation of Lagos State University, or any other recognized University.
  2. Candidates with B.Sc Accounting Education, Banking and Finance will be required to present PGD Accounting before consideration.

M.Phil/Ph.D Accounting

  1. A M.Sc. Degree in Accounting and Taxation of the Lagos State University or any other institution recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University with not less than 3.5 CGPA.
  2. A M.Sc. in Banking and Finance Management or Business Administration with a minimum of 3.5 CGPA provided the candidate had B.Sc. in Accounting from a recognized institution.

Note: It is noteworthy that M.Phil./Ph.D. programme is not a certificate awarding programme. To be qualified for conversion into Ph.D programme, candidate(s) must offer and pass a minimum of 36 units (18 units of compulsory courses, 12 unit of elective courses and 6 units of seminars) with a weighted average score of not less than 60 percent. Also, the candidate(s) must sit for oral conversion examination and score more than 60 percent.

Ph.D Accounting

iii. M.Phil. /Ph.D. in Biochemistry

Admission into the M.Phil. /Ph.D. in Biochemistry programme shall normally be opened to:

  1. First Degree holders whose CGPA is not below 3.5 in the One Calendar year of M.Sc. Biochemistry of Lagos State University.
  2. Candidates who possess a Master’s Degree of CGPA of 3.5 from other Universities recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University.

Iv. Ph.D. in Biochemistry

Eligibility shall be any of the following:

  1. A weighted average of 60% and above obtained from the M.Sc. Biochemistry degree of LASU or any other University recognized by the Senate of LASU.

iii. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree in Physics

Admission into the Doctor of Philosophy in Physics programme shall normally be opened to:

  1. Candidates who have attained at least a 60% level of pass, OR a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 in the Master of Science M.Sc. Degree in Physics programme of Lagos State University AND who have made satisfactory progress in their projects.
  2. Candidates with the Master of Science Degree in Physics, Degree of other recognized Universities, AND whose performance is adjudged to be adequate for the course.

However such candidates may be required to take courses as the Department may prescribe.

The Master of Science Degree in Physics programme will run for ONE (1) Academic calendar, (two semesters) in the case of full time participation whereas part time participation will be for TWO (2) Academic Sessions (four semesters).

For the Master of Philosophy in Physics programme students are expected to a minimum spend ONE (1) academic session and maximum of TWO (2) Academic Sessions (four semesters).

  3. Candidate must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity, effective decision making and problem solving potentials.

  1. Department of Chemistry

Candidates are required to possess:

  1. A graduate of Lagos State University or other recognized University: i.e any First Degree from the Lagos State University and other recognized institution in one of the Biological, and Biochemical Sciences.(For example Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Botany and Food Technology)..

  1. M.Sc. Chemie
  2. The course shall be open for an admission to Honors Chemistry graduates from Lagos State University and other Universities/Institutions recognized by the Senate, who have obtained not less than a Second Class lower division.
  3. A Master Degree programme in Chemistry shall last for a minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters and each student shall renew his/her registration at the beginning of each session.
  4. The programme shall run on a full time basis and the candidates may be required to satisfy the Department in a selection process.

iii. M.Phil./Ph.D in Chemistry

Applicants for admission into the programme must possess:

  1. Master Degree in Chemistry who has attained a total weight average of 55.0-59% (CGPA 3.50-3.99) pass from LASU. Or any other university recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University.
  2. I. The Ph.D. programme shall be open only to candidates having Master degree of the Lagos State University Ojo, or any other approved University.
  3. Master degree holder who has attained a total weighted average of 60.0% (GP 4.0) pass in the relevant written examinations of the three semesters M.Sc. programme in Chemistry from Lagos State University (LASU and also obtained satisfactory level of performance in other compulsory courses of the M.Sc. programme.
  4. In spite of the M.Sc. courses, 4.0 CGPA graduates from other Universities may be required to audit some courses on the suggestion of the supervisor and ratified by the departmental postgraduate committee.
  5. Candidates shall be required in accordance with University regulations to carry out meaningful research and submit a thesis on his/her research for the award of Ph.D degree at the end of at least six semesters. Please note that all Postgraduate programmes require all applicants to possess a credit pass in English Language at the ordinary level.

The programme is designed for candidates with weak First Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics Education and other Mathematics based courses.

A good bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Engineering, Physics and Computer Sciences or Postgraduate Diploma (with a minimum of 3.5).

Where a candidate spends more than two academic sessions, he/she shall renew registration at the beginning of the next one. A candidate’s registration shall normally lapse if he/she has not met the requirement for the award of degree after two academic sessions

Ph.D Zoology and Environmental Biology

  1. Candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant science subjects at ‘O’ Level;
  2. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree from an approved university must obtain a minimum of second class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0

duration: The Ph.D. programme is expected to last for a minimum of six semesters for full time and staff candidates. Candidates shall renew registration at the beginning of every session of studentship. To qualify for the award of Ph.D a candidate must:

The part-time Diploma (PGD) programme shall be on part-time basis and run for a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.

  1. All candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at ‘0’ Level.
  2. A Bachelor of science (B.Sc.) Degree in Microbiology, Food Technology or any other appropriate course in biological Sciences from any University recognized by the senate of LASU
  • Holders of HND in relevant programme from approved institutions with a minimum of Upper Credit may also be considered for admission.
  1. Higher National Diploma or Certificate (HND or HNC) in science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option) or Food Technology.

  2. Candidates must have the university minimum requirement for a B.Sc. degree in Political Science including credit pass in Mathematics and English Language at the 0/level.
  3. Candidates with M.Sc. Political Science with CGPA weighted average not less than 4.0 is required for Ph.D. and not less than 3.50 is required for M.Phil. /Ph.D., apart from other pre-requisites spelt out in the University regulations for postgraduate studies.
  4. A brief satisfactory statement of research in the intended area of research and an oral Ph.Ds. qualification examination by a multi-disciplinary panel constituted by the Department.

Application for the admission to Doctor of Philosophy [Ph.Ds.] in Political Science must possess a Master of Science [M.Sc.] in Political Science with CGPA weighted average not less than 4.0, apart from other pre-requites spelt out in the University regulations for postgraduate studies.

Also admission requirements include a brief satisfactory statement of research in the intended area of research and an oral Ph.D. qualification examination by a multi-disciplinary panel constituted by the department.

For extension beyond the specified maximum period, a special permission of the Postgraduate Board shall be required.

  1. Department of Psychology

M.SC PSYCHOLOGY DEGREE [M.SC PSY]

In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate admission requirements, the Department requires that:

  1. Candidates for admission should normally possess at least a minimum of second class lower Honors Degree in Psychology;
  2. Candidates from other disciplines [e.g. Environmental Sciences, Guidance & Counselling, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Law and Maritime] may be admitted provided such candidates agree in writing to take remedial courses as the department my deem necessary. Not more than twenty percent [20%] of candidates from other disciplines shall make up the total number of the admitted students.
  • All candidates for admission must sit for an entrance examination/interview and pass it at determined mark as the Department may prescribe from time to time.

M.Phil./Ph.D Psychology

  1. Admission to the M.Phil.Ph.D conversion programme is open to graduates of Lagos State University or of other approved Universities, who have attained a specified level of performance in the M.Sc. Psychology Degree Programme. The candidate must have had a weighted average Cumulative Grade Point Average [CGPA] not less than 3.5 to 3.99 will be required to commence on M.Phi. programme. The student will also be required to take at least 12 course units from the 800/900 level courses as may be directed by the department.
  2. For the M.Phil/Ph.D candidates, the minimum duration for these programme shall be two semesters after the registration and a maximum duration of four semester.
  3. Students for M.Phil/Ph.D. conversion programme shall undertake a conversion examination and must obtain a total weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average [CGPA] not lower than 3.5 and above in the 12 units’ courses and an oral examination of proposed research work.

Ph.D. Psychology

  1. Candidates for admission to the programme shall be:
  2. Those initially registered for the M.Sc or M.Phi./Ph.D conversion programme of the department and have obtained a total weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average [CGPA] not lower than 4.0 in the course examinations and project at the Lagos State University.

ODER

  1. Candidates who possess the Master of Philosophy [M.Phil] degree in psychology of an approved University recognized by Senate. Candidates admitted to the programme will be required, on the recommendation of the Department, to take certain courses at the 800/900 levels up to a maximum of 12 units from the candidate’s area of specialization.
  2. Candidates are required to defend their research proposals before an examination panel as may be recommended by the department and give departmental seminars on their Ph.D research.

MASTER IN CRIMINOLOGY, SECURITY AND LEGAL PSYCHOLOGY [MCSLP]

In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate admission requirements, the Department requires that:

  1. Candidates for admission should normally possess any of the following background and experience; Military, Para-military, security/Intelligence, Legal and /or Judiciary;
  2. Candidates for admission should normally possess at least a minimum of second class lower Honors Degree in Psychology/ a minimum of Upper credit from approved Polytechnic from any other discipline;
  • All candidates for admission must sit for an entrance written and / or oral examination and pass such at determined grade as the Department may prescribe from time to time.
  1. Candidates with Higher National Diploma degree [or their equivalents within the Military/Security educational structures] of not less than Upper Credit in any discipline are also eligible.
  2.   • Years of experience of candidates are of utmost important. Hence candidates who are hightly experienced by the educational qualification formally recognized within the Military/Security/Judicial sectors may also be admitted. Candidates with the above qualifications must have worked for not less than fifteen [15] years and should not carry a rank below a Major in the Army or its equivalent in other Paramilitary Organizations,
  • The decision of the Admissions Select Committee [ASC] of the Department of Psychology, Lagos State University in respect of any candidate who applied for the M.Sc CSL Psychology shall be deemed final. Master of Transport Planning

  1. Candidates for Masters in Transport Planning programme of the School of Transport, must possess (5) O” level Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three other subjects from Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Sciences, Engineering and Arts in addition to the following:
  2. B.Sc. Transport or related field of studies not below Second Class Lower 2.2 from Lagos State University or any other Institution recognized by LASU Senate in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Sciences, Engineering and Arts.

Considerations may also be given to holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) not below lower credit who in addition MUST possess the Postgraduate Diploma in Planning Studies or related discipline from LASU or other institutions recognized by LASU Senate in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Sciences, Engineering and Arts etc. or full membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).

duration: The programme runs for Two (2) Academic Sessions. (Four 4 Semester)

M.SC Transport

MPHIL/PH.D IN TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS

To qualify for admission into the MPhil/PhD programme in Transport and Logistics, the candidate must possess or meet a combination of the following:

  1. A MSc degree in: Transport Studies, Transport Management, Logistics, Supply chain, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Geography, Operations Management, Management, Economics, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Sciences and other related courses of the Lagos State University or holder of any other MSc degree recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University not lower than CGPA of 3.5.
  2. Five O’Level credits, including English language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  • Candidate must satisfy all other conditions as stated in the general regulation governing Postgraduate degrees in Lagos State University.

DURATION

  1. For MPhil/Ph.D. candidates, the programme shall normally last for not less than two semesters from the date of first registration in the case of full-time registration and four semesters in the case of part-time registration
  2. A period of study and research originally approved for the MPhil/Ph.D. may, following the MPhil/Ph.D. assessment and conversion be accepted as part of the period of study required for the PhD degree.

PH.D IN TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS

To qualify for admission into the PhD programme in Transport and Logistics, the candidate must possess or meet a combination of the following:

  • Five Level credits, including English language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

DURATION

The programme shall normally last between four and eight semesters from the date of first registration as a full time candidate. The programme shall last not less than eight semesters for part-time registration.

  1. LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION (LASUSOC)

Post Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies (FULL TIME)

Applicants with first Degree not lower than 2nd class lower in any field of studies from an approved university.

Applicant with a 3rdclass or Pass degree in communication and related disciplines

Higher national diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit. However, holders of HND are not eligible for M.Sc. admission after PGD.

Five credits O’ level including English Language, Mathematics, and Literature in English or credit in Literature-in-English in lieu of credit in mathematics for graduates in the Arts and Humanities and credit in Physics or Chemistry in lieu of credit in Literature in English for graduates in the Sciences.

Duration: The duration is two (2) semesters.

Masters in Communication Studies (MCS) (PART TIME)

A good first degree not below Third Class or Pass with two years working experience in Communication related industries.

Higher National Diploma not below Lower Credit with at least three (3) years cognate experience

Candidates with any of the following professions qualifications (APCON, NIPR, CAM, NIMARK, DIPLOMA, etc.)

Five credits in O’ level including English Language (Credit in MATHEMATICS IS NOT REQUIRED, for admission into MCS Programme)

Masters of Science in Communication Studies (MSc) (FULL TIME)

A good first degree not below second class lower in mass communication or related discipline from any approved university.

Post graduate diploma of this school or any approved communication institute with a cumulative grade point average of not below 3.0 (50%) provided the candidate possess a University First degree.

Five credits O’ level including English Language, Mathematics, and Literature in English for BSc Mass Communication graduates, or credit in Literature-in-English and a pass in mathematics for B.A Communication graduates and credit in Physics or Chemistry in lieu of credit in Literature in English for graduates in the Sciences.

M.Phil. /Ph.D. Communication Studies (FULL TIME)

Candidate seeking admission for the MPhil/PhD must hold a Master’s degree (Communication Studies) with not less than 3.5 points on a 5 point scale or from another University recognised by LASU with a master’s degree with not less than 3.5 point on a 5 point scale.

Such a candidate when admitted shall take prescribed courses to be converted to the Ph.D. programme and must pass with a minimum of 4 points on a 5 point scale.

Candidate must also hold a bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.Sc.) in any area of communication studies with a minimum of second lower degree or a first degree in any other area of study with a Postgraduate Diploma (Communication Studies) of LASUSOC or from institutions recognised by Lagos State University.

  5. A first degree in Science courses (medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and other qualifications that may be approved by the Postgraduate School) with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower
  6. Candidates without University degrees should obtain a Postgraduate Diploma prior to application.
  7. All candidates should have a minimum of three years relevant post-qualification experience before applying.

duration: Minimum of 4 semesters and maximum of 6 semesters.

  1. Master in Occupational Health (M.O. H)

Admission requirements include:

  1. Applicants must possess O’level credits passes in Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  2. All applicants must have completed the NYSC programme or show proof of exemption.
  3. First degree in Science (Nursing, Pharmacy, Environmental science, Pharmacology, Sociology) and other qualifications recognized by the Senate of Lagos state university with a minimum of Second Class Degree Lower Division.
  4. Candidates without university degrees should obtain a Post graduate Diploma prior to application.
  5. All candidates should have a minimum of three years relevant post-qualification experience before applying.

duration: Minimum of 4 semesters and maximum of 6 semesters.

iii. Master of Occupational Medicine

Admission requirements include:

  1. Applicants must possess O’level credits passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  2. All applicants must have completed the NYSC programme or show proof of exemption
  3. Basic Medical or Dental Degree registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria..
  4. All candidates should have a minimum of three years relevant post-qualification experience before applying.

duration: Minimum of 4 semesters and maximum of 6 semesters

  1. Department of Physiology
  2. M.Sc. Physiologie
  3. The programme is open to candidates with Bachelor degree in Physiology, Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacology as well as candidates with professional qualification in Medicine and Dentistry (Fellowship of the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical Colleges, West African Postgraduate Medical College or similar bodies recognized by LASU Senate)
  4. Candidates in other related courses recognized by the Lagos State University Senate may be required to satisfy the Departmental selection process.
  5. All Bachelor Degrees must not be lower than Second Class Lower Division.

duration: Minimum of 4 semesters.

  1. M.Phil/Ph.D. in Physiology

This programmes is open to:

  1. Master degree holder in Physiology who has attained a total weighted average of 55.0-59.9% (GP. 3.50 – 3.99) pass from LASU or other University recognized by LASU Senate.

iii. Ph.D. in Physiology

The programme is open to candidates with:

  1. M.Phil. in Physiology
  2. M.Sc. in Physiology with a GPA of 4.0 and above from Lagos State University and any other University recognized by LASU Senate.

duration: Six (6) semesters

  1. Department of Medical Biochemistry
  2. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

To be eligible for admission, candidates must be holders of

  1. B.Sc. Degree in one of the following disciplines: Chemistry, Botany, Zoology,Microbiology, Applied Chemistry or any other related field with at least a Second Class (Lower Division) Pass.
  2. MB, BS, MB, Ch., or BDS degree
  3. FIML/FIST and HND with at least five years post-qualification experience may be considered.
  4. Candidates may be required to undergo a selection process that involves written examination and/or interview.

DURATION: The programme shall be for at least Four (4) Semesters

  1. ii, Sc. Medical Biochemistry
  2. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Degree in Biochemistry of Lagos State University or any other University recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University. Candidates must be holders of a good honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division. Graduates from related disciplines may be considered on individual merits.
  3. Candidates with a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Biochemistry from Lagos State University with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 3.50 could also be admissible into the programme.

iii. Candidates may be required to undergo a selection process that involves written examination/oral interview.

duration: : Minimum of four (4) semesters.

iii. M.Phil/Ph.D

An applicant for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D in Medical Biochemistry must possess M.Sc. Degree in Medical Biochemistry or Biochemistry from this University or any other University recognized by Senate.

  1. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

The Ph.D degree programme is open to candidate holding M.Phil degree or equivalent in Biochemistry or Medical Biochemistry of Lagos State University or any other university recognized by Senate.

Holders of M.Sc. with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0.) and above can apply to the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme according to the regulations approved by Senate. Candidates may undergo selection by interview.

duration: minimum of 6 semesters and maximum of 8 semesters.

duration: The Minimum period of a full time study of Ph.D Degree shall be for six (6) Semesters. Students are required to register every session to maintain their studentship.
