Robocar racing car successfully completed the first official autonomous hill climb in front of 55,000 spectators at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018.

The autonomous racing car successfully completed the 1.16-mile course without a human artificial intelligence (AI) driver comprising 5 LiDar emitters, 2 radar emitters, 18 ultrasound sensors, 6 cameras, and 2 optical speed sensors.

Using cameras and LiDar sensors, the vehicle was able to reach a speed limited to 120 km / h on the driveable surfaces, enabling a 360-degree view of the environment.

Duke of Richmond and founder of the Festival of Speed said:

"For a racing car, it's an enormous achievement to master the very first mountain race with artificial intelligence"

"Roborace has worked incredibly hard to make that happen and we are delighted that the public can see them in action on the festival weekend."

Roborace is the world's first competition for man-machine teams using both self-driving cars (in the case of Machine Vs Machine) and manually controlled cars (Human Vs Human).
