President Muhammadu Buhari called on Nigerians on Wednesday to be patient with him as his government made efforts to combat the ongoing killings in parts of the country.

He said members of his security teams would break their brains to find a lasting solution.

In a statement issued by his senior special representative for the press and media, Garba Shehu, the president cited this and condemned the assassination of many people, including a district head, in and around Gandi village in Rabah's local government of the Sokoto state by bandits.

"I would like to assure all Nigerians that their security receives the most attention from this government and that no compromises are made in this commitment.

"I ask for your patience as my security teams crack their brains to put an end to this terrible violence," Shehu Buhari quoted.

The president said his government no longer tolerates violence against innocent Nigerians.

He threatened that every attempt to try his government's will would be met with equal force.

He wondered why killers would attack innocent people for no reason.

The President said, "This wanton violence against innocent people is not tolerated by this government, and we work around the clock to identify the people who support these heartless attacks.

"It is strange why a group of mass murderers would attack and kill innocent people for no reason.

"Do not fool yourself, my government remains committed to security as one of its core objectives, and any attempt to test our will through a group of anarchists and troublemakers will be equally powerful.

"Identifying and defeating these insidious killers is a priority of this government, and we will spare no effort to track down the root of the evil, especially its sources of funding and weapons."

Buhari promised that although these bands of mass murderers used unconventional tactics, they would ultimately be defeated.
