A group leader has emerged, which can be seen as a case of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) elections just concluded. His name is Gideon Obande.

He claimed that the election, where Danielson Bamidele was elected president-elect, was adversely affected by irregularities, as there were some people involved in the process of imposing "Stooges" on all students.

Mr Obande, speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, insisted that he seize the support of two-thirds of the students through the various universities. had previously reported that the elections before the announcement of Mr Bamidele, who voted 104 of the 272 votes cast, were affected by some irregularities. But Obande had 7 votes based on the announced results.

Obande, who attended the same Nasarawa State University, insisted that Keffi, as designated president-elect, insisted on favoring certain candidates.

He cited the election of the Congress chairman, who had three more votes than the entire accredited voters to support his claim.

The student politician said: "At the NANS conference that just came to an end, there were attempts to disrupt the process where some of us, who were candidates for the front line, were even abused by individuals and thugs, but we want to Thanks to God for creating a new leadership in NANS. "

"The National Association of Nigerian Students at the last convention, which was just completed, had 272 accredited delegates, and I can say that of that number, we will command no less than 2/3 of the students and their association to the various campuses ,

"We are brave to say so, because they are aware of the attempt to start the process, because for an accreditation that had 272 delegates, after the election of the Congress chairman, she rose to 275 delegates to try the result to improve the convention. " Recalls that it is not the first time that NANS is being fractionated after a poll. The outgoing leadership had two people claiming the presidency – Haruna Kadiri and Nathan Obasi.

Plans on taking office

Meanwhile, the group president also explained his plans for the union. He proposed an impartial approach and promised to insist on government action to improve the education sector.

"Our leadership will offer a new narrative, and an end to campus oppression has put an end to the infrastructure decadents in our campus with an end to a single-digit budget allocation for education, and we'll get in touch with the government as needed to make sure that we are redirecting education to Nigeria.

"There will be no repression of our unions on campus by Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Probst, there should be no more intimidation of our students by lecturers, there should be no harassment of our students, NANS will cease to be partisan, we will become the role of the conscience of society.

"We will defend democracy, we will defend freedom of speech, we will defend the independence of the judiciary and ensure that something is done that should be done, we will always say who is wrong, that he is wrong and who is right has that he or she rightly ensures that Nigeria migrates from where it is today to where we want it to be. "

The Bamidele Group did not react to this development at the time of submission of this report.
