In the months leading up to the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, the company offers free WWDC scholarships to students and members of the STEM organization each year who do not have the $ 1,599 to buy a ticket for the event.

When was selected, fellows receive a free WWDC ticket, free accommodation, and a free Apple Developer Membership for one year. On Twitter today Apple boss Tim Cook celebrated these more than 350 people with a short video highlighting some of the winners and their apps.

In the video, Cook sees the apps with the scholarship holders, who also briefly describe the projects they are working on. Some apps include "Study Buddy Connection," which focuses on how tutors and students find each other, and "UV Safe," which sends iOS notifications to apply sunscreen based on the UV index at your location.

Accompanying the video, Cook's tweet says, "Nothing inspires us more than fresh ideas."

WWDC 2018 will begin tomorrow with a keynote at 10:00 am Pacific Time at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. As developers and other attendees arrived over the weekend in California, the first look at Conference Swag appeared online, including a Levi's denim jacket and a collection of Apple-themed enamel pins.

MacRumors will provide all of the usual coverage of the conference, with real-time keynote updates on our @MacRumorsLive Twitter account and all of MacRumors.com's upcoming event highlights the day and the Week.
