Frank Lampard has been named the new manager of Derby County after a three-year contract with Pride Park.
The former midfielder of Chelsea and England has taken his first step into the leadership phase, confirming over the weekend that he had talked with Derby officials. The East Midlands club, who lost to Fulham in the semi-finals of the play-off championship, has been without coach since last week's absence in Stoke City following Gary Rowett's absence, but has confirmed the 39-year-old's appointment. Frank Lampard: "I've barely kicked a ball since I'm done and I have no desire for it"
Lampard told Derby's website, "I've always wanted a club with a big club Leading tradition and history like Derby County, this is a great opportunity.I have spent a lot of time discussing the club's role and goals with the chairman and board members.
"We want to be in the last season in the club Build championship in the first six places of the club and at the same time some of the outstanding youth and academy talents we have in Pride Park.
"This is my first job as a manager, but I've worked closely with some of the game's best coaches and I'm confident in my own abilities and those of the team around me, including the board." I know it will not be simple – it's never the management of a football team – but I'm really looking forward to the upcoming challenge. "

I'm thrilled, my first Step toward direction with @dcfcofficial to confirm a club with so much tradition and history.
Lampard retired in 2016 after a stay in New York City as a player. He began his career at West Ham and played alongside his long time at Chelsea at Swansea City (loan) and Manchester City. He made 106 appearances for England.
Derby chairman Mel Morris said: "His passion and humility were equally bright, and the board agreed that he was the outstanding candidate with many coveted and unique skills.
" Few players have achieved what Frank has in his career so far. He is a winner, a leader who knows what it takes to be successful and who has character and charisma to be a fantastic manager for us.
