The system, called Nissan Energy Solar, includes integrated solar panels, a battery storage system and a home power management system. This allows customers to generate power through the solar panels and store it in the xStorage Home Battery Pack for later use. For example, you can use the stored power to recharge your Nissan Leaf, or simply enjoy less dependence on the local power grid.
For now, Nissan Energy Solar is only offered to UK customers
"Nissan Energy Solar is a complete system for the generation, management and storage of domestic energy, "said Gareth Dunsmore, Nissan's electric vehicle leader for Europe. "It allows UK homeowners to make significant savings on their household bills and become champions in sustainability and green technology."
"More than 880,000 people in the UK are already using solar panels and this fully integrated solution offers new opportunities. This number will grow exponentially over the next few years."
Interested customers are looking for entry costs of £ 3,881, which is just over $ 5,000 US DOLLAR. For this price you will receive a solar system with six modules (including installation costs) and the energy management system for the home. You also get the choice between a new or recycled battery cell that gives extra protection to environmentally friendly buyers.
British customers can learn more about Nissan Energy Solar at this link . It is not clear whether Nissan wants to expand the offer outside the UK, but with the recent launch of the new Nissan Leaf we would be surprised if this were not the case.
