According to Autocar India sources, Kawasaki plans to bring the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R out of Japan as a Semi-Knocked Down Kit (SKD) and assemble it at its Chakan plant near Pune.
The website reports that the move probably the price of the motorcycle up to under 14 lakhs. Currently, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R INR costs 18.8 lakhs, ex-showroom. When launched as an SKD unit, it would be the most powerful liter class motorcycle in the country. Currently, the Honda CBR 1000RR, is the cheapest track-master of the liter class, having received a price cut after the tax revision . According to the media website, the launch of the SKD version of the ZX-10R is expected to take place in June. Recently it was reported that the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR was offered with a dealer discount of INR 4 lakhs . Back to the ZX-10R, it has a 998 cc series four DOHC engine. The mill is good for 210 hp with ram air at 13,000 rpm and 113.5 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R rivals the Honda CBR 1000RR, Suzuki GSX-R1000, BMW S 1000 RR and Yamaha YZF-R1.
