Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe

Thursday's Senate plenary session was almost interrupted by a deafening uproar after Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe claimed President Muhammadu Buhari was incompetent.

Abaribe's allegation followed an adopted order 43 he made in relation to the apology the president gave while in London that the killer shepherds had allegedly been trained by Muammar Gaddafi, the late Libyan revolutionary leader.

In his statement, Abaribe said that two apologies have been published in several forums by Interior Minister Abdulrahaman Dambazzau and Police Inspector Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, who announce wanton killings by armed shepherds because their shepherd ways were blocked while the latter were told they did the new state laws against open grazing

He said, "President Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday in London that the murders in the country are due to the people trained by the late Muammar Gaddafi, which confirms my previous position that the President failed has to take over the protection of life and property throughout the country as enshrined in its constitution as its primary responsibility.

So I make it bold to say that the President is incompetent " Abaribe asserted.

But this generated a turmoil as all Progressive Congress, APC, Senators took Abaribe's comment as direct disrespect to Buhari, who is a member and leader of the ruling party.

Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senator of the Senate, and Ibn Na'Allah, Deputy Chief, appealed to the Order Commander to tender Abaribe with a tender apology and invited him to follow his line.

Abaribe, however, said in his apology, "If any words were misunderstood, I apologize."

However, the Abia lawmaker was overruled by statement 53 issued by Ibn Na'Allah, stating that Abaribe should not speak about the President's conduct.
