You better act fast.

If you're in the market for a Google Pixel 2 there are only two ways to buy it – either on the Google Store or via Verizon Wireless. The Verizon Pixel 2 is the same phone as the unlocked model, but there is one area in which it is different – the bootloader can not be unlocked. Or can you do that?

Google Pixel 2s sold through Verizon are said to have a bootloader that can not be unlocked, but some users on the XDA Developers Forum prove the opposite. A handful of users have reported that they reboot the bootloader of the Verizon Pixel 2 (not the 2 XL) with the bootbooster adb and fastboot flashing lock_critical commands without any kind of hack or exploit required ,

One of the users who could do that says they bought the phone in a Verizon store while another bought their device at a local Best Buy .

Most people who are interested in such a thing probably bought the unlocked Pixel 2, but if you have a Verizon unit and want to try it, we recommend that you do it sooner rather than later. As soon as Verizon Wind learns of what is going on, a software update is likely to be made to prevent this in the future.
